I was only halfway through my shift and I decided to take Marty up on his offer of wearing flats. I had an extra pair in the closet in my dressing room. "Hey Marty, I need to step away for a few seconds. Can you cover for me for like five minutes?"
"Yeah, of course. You gonna go change into different shoes?" He teased as he stepped behind the bar.
"Yeah, you were right and I like you too much to let Ivan kill you." I teased back. I quickly made my way to my dressing room and slipped off my heels. I rubbed my feet and put on some lotion before I slipped on the flats. I sighed and sat down for a second and grabbed my phone out of my bag. I checked my messages and I had one from Alexei asking if I was okay. I typed back a quick 'yes, at work' and told him that I'd call him later when I was on my way to Ivan's house.
I started to walk back to the bar when some guy pushed past me, heading towards the back. I had never seen him before but maybe he was one of the new girls' boyfriend or something. I shrugged it off and continued back to the bar. I made a mental note to ask Marty about him. I stepped back behind the bar and walked towards Marty. "Did you see the guy that looked out of place walking towards the back? He ran into me when I was heading back up here. Is he a boyfriend or something to one of the girls?"
"He's Aliyah's new boyfriend, he's some Italian guy so I keep telling her that he's not allowed here since we don't allow any of the girl's to bring their boyfriends, fiances, husbands, or whatever here during work hours. Even though you know the real reason, Ivan wouldn't want some Italian trash in here. They always throw you up in my face and say shit about how I let you mess around with your boyfriend. I have to remind them every single time that he's the boss and if he wants to see his girl then I'm not gonna be the one to try and stop him." Ivan hated the Italians, it didn't want matter who they were.
"I would like to see one of them say that to Ivan's face. Maybe you need to have him come in and enforce some of the rules. They wouldn't question him or you could tell them that if you see or find out that they are bringing them around during business hours that you'll fire them." Marty needed to be a bit harder on the girls, he was always letting them slide for stuff.
"If I see one of them do it again then I'll say something about firing them or telling them that the boss wants to talk to them. I hate bothering Ivan about this stuff." Marty leaned back against the bar as I finished up some drinks for our regulars.
"You look miserable behind the bar, go dance." Marty could tell I hated doing this.
"Ivan said no." I frowned and walked towards the guys at the end of the bar that were signaling for me. I got their refills on whiskey shots and walked back to Marty.
"Then I'll call him and tell him that you look miserable. Shawna will be coming in soon to take over anyways." Marty stepped into the back, pulling out his phone while he walked. He came back five minutes later with a big grin on his face.
"Don't tell me that you were able to sweet talk him into letting me dance..." I trailed off as I poured some tequila shots for the guys at table five.
"It was a piece of cake, he'll do anything when it comes to making you happy." He winked at me and leaned back up against the bar.
"I guess I'll go change then, huh?" I smiled and kissed his cheek in thanks. He was like the father I never really had. I walked back towards my dressing room and pulled out the newest lingerie set that I bought in Russia. I slipped off my corset and put on a red knee length flowy dress, keeping on my black spandex shorts. I undid my hair and let the waves fall, adding a little more blush and a nude lip color. I took a final look in the mirror before I headed out to the stage.
