Broken Bread
-for dogs and Fred
BY: Dhruv Sapra
Bread broken, yes broken bread
Shared Lilly, Susie, John and Fred
Poor hands not poor hearts
Each shared an equal part
Better than those Richie rich
Fragments of the uniworld together hitched
One on road, happy in hope
Other tensed about profit scope
A tale of poles unlike
Exists together the meager and might
Day kicks off with a coffee in bed
This time, in park on bench is Fred
Geyser on, with newspaper the world they mourn
Chilly water bath, shivering poor John
Now off to work in a luxury car
Susie heads to mines on foot too far
Earns a million for the signature job silly
Though just a few pennies for the poor Lilly
Delicious dinner, in supper the soup corn
Still hungry Lilly, Susie, Fred and John
Dumped decayed delicious food from Richie might
For dinner with dogs the poor fight
Remember the piece of broken bread
Shared Lilly, Susie, John and Fred
On this world each has an equal right
End all this meager and might
Let the renaissance take place
Rich and poor, out of the World’s face
Judge not a man by his pocket size
But honor in him what’s good and wise!
