Chapter 4: So YOU Want To Be A Movie Star?

It was quiet, as it usually was when Nick wasn’t home. I sat on the couch of our apartment on my laptop as I was scrolling around my favorite entertainment news sources. Reading articles about Nick comforted me when I was alone. There was a link on my favorite website, Nickutopia, titled “Nick Jonas @nickjonas lands big movie role!” Why hadn’t he told me? I clicked on the article to get the inside scoop.

“A source has confirmed that Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers has taken a big movie role! We don’t know what movie he’ll be in, but we sure wish the best to Nick! Hopefully this doesn’t mean the end of the Jonas Brothers! PS did you hear about Joe Jonas’ wild night?” Then there was a poll asking if readers wanted the JoBros to make new music. I voted “Of course!!!”

But that last sentence about Joe caught my eye. I hadn’t seen him since Nick and I had moved out here to L.A., and Nick hadn’t said a nice thing about him since we started dating. I clicked the blue link that was the last sentence and was brought to a new article titled “Joe Jonas has a crazy night!”

“Yikes! Looks like Joe Jonas has gotten out of control! After his new album, Fast Life, which came out this past week, didn’t sell too well, Joe went on a big rant. He said he’s going to follow in his “loser brother’s footsteps” by going to Hollywood and trying to be an actor. We wish Joe the best of luck! Hopefully this doesn’t mean the end of the Jonas Brothers! PS did you hear Kevin Jonas is going to be on Minute To Win It?” Then there was a poll asking if readers wanted the JoBros to make new music. I voted “Maybe!!!”

I wondered what provoked Joe to be so mean about Nick. Nick was the most sweet and pretty and pure and amazing person I’d ever known. Something must’ve happened between them, I thought. It probably wasn’t any of my buisness, and I figured that if it was an important plot point that it’d be revealed later on.

Clicking on the last sentence of Joe’s article brought me to one about Kevin. “Kevin Jonas is going to be on the hit game show Minute to Win It, hosted by Food Network dictator Guy Fieri! Kevin will be playing to win money for his charity of choice: his pregnant girlfriend Lauren! We wish Kevin the best of luck! Hopefully this doesn’t mean the end of the Jonas Brothers! PS did you hear about Guy Fieri’s new restaurant chain, Flavortown Food Comas?” Then there was a poll asking if readers wanted the JoBros to make new music. I voted “No Way!!!”

For a brief moment I debated texting Lauren and congratulating her, but knowing what Nick had told me about Kevin I figured he’d try to keep it a surprise. Good thing Lauren never reads these websites! I was about click the article about Guy Fieri when Nick came in through the front door, back early from his meeting. “Hi, honey,” I said. “How did the meeting go? You’re back early.”
