Ground ZDarkness. That's all he felt. He was content to stay like this, the lull of sleep ensnaring him, the long tendrils of the dark wrapping its warm fingers around him. He wasn't quite asleep, no. He wouldn't sleep. He never really did. Anyway, he didn't have time to sleep, he had more important things to do. He let his mind wander, just to unimportant, insignificant things, just to pass the time. He supposed this was what it was like to be normal. Normal; He pondered the word, he didn't think anyone was normal. Especially not him. He was told often enough that he wasn't, people even told him there was something wrong with him. He didn't disagree though. He didn't feel like everyone else did. Well, he still felt... For some people, anyway. He loved his sister, Gwen. He guessed she was the only reason he stayed. His mom didn't need him. But she did.
BEEP. BEEP.
"Idiot!" He seethed. He'd forgotten to turn off his stupid alarm clock. His eyes snapped open and his dream-like trance broke immediately, he shot up out of bed, his emerald orbs flying to the sleeping form of his sister, her small figure encased in the Nirvana Bed sheets she'd 'borrowed' last year. The rhythmic rise and fall of her chest indicated she was still asleep, however she seemed to be stirring. He held his breath, not wanting to wake her. She resettled, shifting around in her bed. He smiled at her sleeping form, the fairy lights wrapped around her bedframe made her paper-white skin glisten in the dim-light. Gwen started to snore, indicating she was asleep again, her blonde hair covering her face like a thin veil. He slid over the edge of his bed, sliding his already clothed legs into his combat boots and ferreted around in the dark for one of his t-shirts to throw on, his hands landing on a Slipknot tee. "Oh well," he thought. "It'll do for now." And slid it over his head groggily.
Taking a quick look at the clock, it read '2:13 a.m.' , he had 27 minutes to kill. He tiptoed over to his sisters' bed, which was hard to do in heavy boots and kissed her forehead. He wasn't sure if he'd make it back this time, getting rations was hard nowadays. Gangs forcefully taking rations, violent squabbles over food. Even people just keeling over from starvation wasn't uncommon now. He wondered how long it would take for the government to start ration electricity too. He tried not to think about how this would affect his sister, it would blow over... He hoped anyway... He busied himself with tiding up the room and getting Gwen's school bag ready. He paced restlessly in front of the door for the last few minutes, waiting like a dog eagerly for its masters' return. He thought if he could make it early he might get some sugar or flour or trade for some off someone, it would be pricey at worst. But he was willing to pay for it to make his little sisters 10th birthday awesome, Pandemic or not. However, it was the sudden, erratic fit of knocking on the door that threw him through a loop, this wasn't a family that had visitors, Gwen's friends came around occasionally but never would they show up at 2:27 a.m. knocking on the door like their life depended on it. So, when his mother rounded the corner, screaming profanities at him, hysterically demanding what that infernal knocking was, he was hard-pressed to come up with an explanation for the ever-increasing urgency. So, did something completely against his better judgment, and gripped the handle of the heavily barricaded door and slid the bolt open, bracing himself for whatever was to come barrelling through that door.
Eh Ill finish it later. Cya. Winter ~
