~Back In Alexandria~
Rick sat up and yawned after an almost sleepless night of thinking of ways to fight and kill the saviours, most importantly Negan.
'I'm gonna get to see Maggie today," he thought to himself . 'I hope the baby's okay'.The sheriff wiped his eyes at the thought of Glenn, and started to tear up a bit.
'Maybe if you listened to Glenn he wouldn't have died'. A sparkling tear rolled down Rick's tired face. 'He saved you. If it weren't for him, you would have never seen Lori and Carl again. You would have never been able to meet your daughter!' He sat there, regretting his decisions.
'You wouldn't have met your best friend Daryl-'Rick fell back onto his pillow, bursting into silent tears.
'Daryl might even be dead.'
He couldn't escape the horrifying thought of Daryl dying, his best friend, gone.
About 10 minutes of quiet sobbing had past, but still, a tear would fall down Rick's face every once in a while.
"Rick, you okay?"
When he heard her voice he wiped his eyes and got up to see Michonne at the door.
"Yeah. Yeah I'm fine." The sheriff lied.
"Alright, I'm gonna go get the others up, we're leaving soon." Michonne said with a slight smile.
"Okay," Rick concluded as she left.
Rick threw on some old clothes and went to the washroom. He splashed some water on his face to wake himself up, and to hide that he was just crying his guts out. Rick then came outside to see everyone waiting for him down out front.
"You ready?" He asked. Everyone nodded
"-kay, then lets go".Rick walked to the front of the group taking lead, ans the rest followed, on the way to hilltop.
~Time skip to when they arrive at the hilltop~
As Rick and the group approached the gates to the hilltop, the Sheriff looked up to see a woman on the watch platform. Maggie gave the group a warm and relieving smile. "Sasha!, Enid!" She called to the others.
The gates slowly opened as rick walked towards Maggie, and he embraced her tightly.
"You okay?" Said Rick, concerned, looking into the pregnant woman's aqua blue eyes.
"I'm okay." Maggie informed. "The baby's okay- all of us."
Rick paused for a moment before replying "You were right," he said softly "right from the start, you told all of us to get ready to fight. I didn't listen, an' I couldn't...I can now." With his hand on Maggie's shoulder, the sheriff nodded.
Suddenly, in the corner of his eye, Rick saw people walking towards the group. He looks up to see a man he thought he'd never see again, his brother. Already his deep blue eyes filled with sparkling tears, Rick lifted his hand off of Maggie's shoulder.
He began walking, almost running towards the redneck. Daryl stepped closer, his lip quivering, his hair covering his eyes full of tears. Daryl nodded, trying to act strong, the man couldn't believe it either, his best friend, who he thought he'd never see again, was standing right in front of him.
