The Train

She stood there, fidgeting to the music in her ears. It was probably a song she's played numerous times. Her bright pink sneakers complemented her Paddle Pop Rainbow coloured hair. It was a dishevelled side part, to the left, but it suited her strawberry shaped face. Her eyes wild with thoughts, probably another poem being drafted. Dressed in an unbuttoned denim shirt and a sheer tank, with a pair of sweatpants, she looked like any other collegiate except she's not.

People stood a distance away from her. Perhaps she was a little too eccentric, or unique for their liking. But these people didn't stay long. Trains passed by but she didn't seem to realise, and these people, they're gone with the speeding blur.

"Ah, she missed another one," he thought.

She stood there, almost dancing. Her cupid's bow lips curled in the corner, hiding a secret. At least that's what he thinks.

Another train is fast approaching. His feet shuffled towards the yellow line. He caught a glimpse of her, still smiling, still dancing. He can't help but wonder what could possibly be that amusing.

The train stopped, and she was now gone. He stepped inside the cold cabin and proceed towards the door on the other side, so as to see her again. But alas, she wasn't there. It's as though she's disappeared into the thin air.

He sighed and shrugged when the announcer said something about a 15 minutes delay. Plugging his ears in, he scrolled through his playlist to drown the thoughts in his head.

*beep* Door's closing. *beep*

The train moving jolted him from his music, and there she was, leaning against the door across from him. She had that secretive smile again, and he found himself smiling.

*beep* Next station... *beep*

Suddenly, she was in front him. Her lips opening and closing, as though saying something. He fumbled with his earphones.

"Sorry, you were saying?"

"You look like a coffee lover, wanna go have a cuppa?"

"Erm, my stop's coming up next..."

"Yeah, so's mine. I know a good café."

"Okay. Do we know each other?"

"We're about to. I'm Lily, and you are?"

"Oh, I thought you're smooth," he said with a laugh.

"Haha, I'm usually shy, but, you seem like my kind of guy."

"Haha, you're smooth alright. And I'm Luke."

"You do Luke it."

*beep* Door's closing. *beep*

He walked at her pace. Slow with really small steps even though she did walk quite fast. He only realised how small she is actually now that they're side by side. At 6 feet, he could clearly see the top of her head and he wondered what she could possibly be thinking to have been as bold as she did.
