Suddenly the telephone rang. She picked up the phone and listened. A gruff voice said: "Never forget Route 78 Miss". The line ended. Those rough, miserable words echoed loudly in Carla's head. Her heart thudded blaringly for the threatning words repeated in her mind cloaking her with immense fear. Carla could only hear the clicking of the clock and her heart pumps and that filled her with great distress. That tough voice was never familiar to her. "Route 78?" What is it? She sat down unconsciously.
The nighttime flooded and it grew more creepier. Carla felt that the stars were not so pleasant and bright today;the moon wasn't so brave. Her shadow traced behind her to the bedroom, where the misery began again. She was alone in the house where the darkness enwrapped itself around her asthough she was submerged in a dark sea, slowly sinking to the cold and pitch darkness.
When the morning assented, Carla merely wokeup at six o' clock, wrapped in within her same routine to get to work. The thought of the phone call always triggered her mind lingering her into a different world. She stared at her reflection in the mirror. She looked pale, eyes swollen and her face accentuated the fear that confronted her. Then she left the house steepily, trenched inside an unpleasant world.
Carla drove past Midsten road into Glungsten street. There were street lamps years ago but now they were sabotaged. The straight road had morning darkness sensed to it. The road was not veered to the left or right. She was startled by a sudden image she saw from her side mirror. A white car, appeared to be like a dot followed her throughout. The narrow road ended and Carla made a slight turn into Bridgestone road with an eye so cautious to the mirror. The white car turned too. This scared her immensely ."The phone call was something so bad",she thought. She had nothing to do but phone her detective friend,Jack. The phone rang.
"Hello?",said a timid voice.
"Hi Jack, Im Carla. I'm on my way to work and it looks asthough a white car is constantly following me", replied Carla alarmingly.
"Oh",gasped the voice. "Where are you now?"
"In Brigestone road near Oakland Paradise".
"Okay. Speed up the car and take a U-turn and drive back to Midsten Road",said Jack.
"Okay. Thanks Jack".
"Wait, can you notice the number of the car?"
"No please because it doesn't have the headlights on",replied Carla furiously.
"Oh no problem. Keep up with your speed and reach soon Carla". The line ended.
Carla speeded up;her heart beating as the speed of the car. She turned visciously from Oakland Paradise. She sighed with relief when the white car disappeared. Slowing down the car, she leaned against the seat breathlessely.
