The Conversation in the Bathroom

Tintin walked into the bathroom and closed the door behind him.  He was flabbergasted.  Completely and utterly flabbergasted. He held his hands up to look at them; they shook with mighty force as did much of his body. He brought them up to rub his face, letting out a shaky breath as he did.

He heard the door open and close, and turned to see his wife, a concerned look plastered to her face. She walked cautiously over to him and helped him to sit on the side of the tub, seeing as he was still very shaken up.

"Goodness dear, what was that about?" She said, rubbing his back soothingly.

He sighed nervously, continuing to rub his forehead and sides of his face with his hands. "It was...I-it was an old f-friend of mine." He said, trying to control his nerves.

Elise froze for a moment in thought. "Which one?" She said after a moment.

"Oh you wouldn't know him. I met you after we lost touch." He responded somewhat absently, his mind still on the call.

After another moment, she continued "Well, what's happened? Has there been an incident, or has someone passed away or-"

"No, no nothing like that." Said Tintin. "He just...called. To uh...catch up I suppose."

"After 13 years of silence?" She asked incredulously.  "Sweetheart, are you sure it wasn't just a prank?  You know how kids ca-"

"No! No, it wasn't a prank it was him.  I would be able to spot his voice in a lineup, trust me."

"Well, alright then." She said after a pause, "So, what did he want?"

"Well, other than to 'catch up' I'm really not quite sure. We...we had a falling out before we lost contact with one another, so I'm not sure why he chose now to...to..." he struggled to put his confusion into words. He raked his hands through his hair as he let out an exasperated sigh.

"Hmm...strange..." Said Elise, thinking as she continued to rub his back.

"I mean, it just shook me up. He was my best friend before we...y'know...so, I don't know what to do really." Tintin kind of aimlessly rambled his thoughts, trying to grasp on to a reason for the sudden contact.

"Well," started Elise, "maybe he wants to make amends?"

Tintin thought for a moment before responding. "You could be right I suppose. He did say he wanted us to come out to visit him." He said as he continued to think.

"Well...maybe..." Elise said, somewhat warily.

A little high pitched chuckle cane from the bedroom. Tintin turned his head towards it. "What are the kids doing?" He asked quietly.

"Oh I have them playing patty cake." Said Elise, a blissful smile gracing her features as she thought about the children.

Tintin smiled at her. She was absolutely beautiful in every way. How did he get so lucky?

He placed a lingering kiss to her cheek, and then stood up. "C'mon. We better go and give them some breakfast." He said, taking her hand as they walked out of the bathroom.

I'm thinking this story might be a little short. Maybe just like, idk, 6 or 7 chapters? Like a little short story. I should mention that this story isn't connected to my other Tintin stories or one shots in any way. All of the teenage Tintin ones go together, and the Clock on the Mantle one's go together, but this one is just kinda stand alone.
