"Karis! Hurry up or we're be late for field practice!," she called out to me, walking out from the girl's locker room quickly as she puts on her Nike shoes.
"Coming!", I quickly put on my sports shirt and a pair of shorts. I was running late because Mr. Hopkins gave us a surprise test. Although it was a surprise, but I had full confidence that I will get a good mark for it.
I went out and saw Jocelyn who was already waiting for me at the entrance of the field hall. I quickly approached her and we made our way together to the field.
The school field was filled with students. There were cheerleaders, athletes, and rugby players. Jocelyn was at the cheerleading team. She gave me the 'talk to you later' gesture and went practice with her teammates. She told me she had cheerleading practice for an up-coming football game tomorrow against Riverwood Highschool.
" Ms. Honor!"
" Yes, Coach!" I answered and quickly approached him.
"Coach Simon. Welcome to Ravenhalk High."
" Thanks, Coach."
" Now, give me 800meters!"
"E-Err, y-yes, Coach!" I tightened my shoe lace and started to run. I had no problems running 800meters. When I was at America, I was the school's pro female athlete. I was the champion for 8000meters hurdle race. So, I was surprised he asked me to do 800meters.
I finished my run by 2 minutes 12 seconds. I untie my hair and went through it with my fingers. The wind suddenly blew hard and made my hair dance, following the direction of the wind. I could hear loud noises then from the other side where the rugby team was having practice. I frown in curiosity. Are they having a fight? Geez, boys will be boys, I told myself.
"Karis! Over here! C'mon!"
I saw Jocelyn waving at me. With a smile, I skipped my way to her when suddenly, a voice called out my name. I turned around and saw a familiar face.
" Oh.." I smiled. "Mr. Canningway?"
"Ms. Karis Honor. It's an honor to meet you, officially.." He smiled and bowed down." Just call me, Chase".
"Uhuh..Okay, Chase. Is there anything I could help you?" I asked, feeling a bit uncomfortable by his presence.
He observed me for a moment. " Am I making you uncomfortable?" He raised a brow and crossed his arms.
He could see right through me, I thought. " Er... Not that really, I guess." I look away from him. Am I that obvious, I asked myself.
" Okay." He raised both his hands in surrender. " I'll not interrupt you anymore. I better continue practice. See you around."
He was wearing a football jersey which made his shoulders broader, firmer and he was perfectly fit. His height was perfect; the kind that needs to look down to kiss you. His hair, wet from his sweat during practice, made him look hotter. He has eyebrows that are perfectly arched which made his brown eyes looked serious but playful at the same time.
I didn't know why I was thinking about him like that. But, honestly speaking, he looks attractive that way.
I felt guilty after hearing what he said. I'm a new student here, I shouldn't be so proud of myself. Plus, I think I should actually make guy friends. I hesitated to call him back at first. I quickly walked towards him until I tripped over of myself and fell to the ground.
"Ouch!!" I cried, quickly trying to stand up but it was already too late. He saw me tripped and he quickly approached me and gave me a hand.
He chuckled. " Are you alright?" He grabbed my arm softly and pulled me up.
