The bell rang for the end of the day, and Jonathan was waiting outside for Stephanie. He was grinning as she approached him.
“What?” she asked, smiling back. She had been thinking about his dare all day - although she was a bit nervous, she was secretly pleased. She had been planning what to do in her head almost constantly.
“Are you gonna do it?”
“Yeah, I’m not backing out of this one.”
The rest of the kids were crowding out of the doors of the school, so Stephanie and Jonathan swiftly turned a corner out of the gates and snuck towards the gates of St Benedict’s, as the first few posh kids started to leave.
Jonathan was impatient. “Do we have to wait for the same one? Just pick a guy.”
“No,” Stephanie replied, “the agreement was to kiss that one boy. I’m waiting for him or it’s all off.”
They stood, half-crouched behind the railings for a few minutes more. All the while, Stephanie was considering whether to say something to Jonathan. About what really happened the previous night.
“Jonathan?” she said, quietly.
“What? You’re not chickening out now!”
“I wanna tell you something.” She turned from watching the posh kids to look at his eyes.
He laughed nervously. “OK… what?”
“It’s about Simon. Erm… I…”
He interrupted. “Never mind, tell me later. Look who just appeared!”
The blonde, pale figure was easily recognisable, and Stephanie knew for certain it was the same boy as they had seen earlier that day.
They waited until some other students had parted a little from him; he appeared to be alone.
“I’ll watch. Go!” Jonathan whispered loudly into Stephanie’s ear, and pushed her forcefully towards the stranger. She looked back at Jonathan with a scowl, but continued nevertheless.
The boy was looking the other way as Stephanie reached him, and he jumped when she reached out and grabbed his arm.
“Wha… who are you?” asked the boy.
She put both arms on his face and pulled him in to kiss her. He struggled against her, but she did it quickly, then turned back to Jonathan who was clapping from a distance.
“You’re crazy! Stay away from me!” he shouted, wrestling free of her grip.
