As Noah headed off to find the new threat he had felt at the hospital, he couldn't help thinking about the woman he had saved. She was at least in her mid twenties and had a very fit body. He could tell from when he carried her to the hospital, she had a lot of muscle under that very smooth and delicate skin. It looked like she put up a hell of a fight with the vamp that had attacked her, but it proved to be useless. The vamp was ten times more powerful than she was and when she fought he bite down harder and that was why she was bleeding so badly.

His thoughts where on her when he found the other vampire. Normally he enjoys a good fight, even craves it but for some reason he wanted to be at the bed side of a petite young women, instead of on the hunt. The vamp hadn't found a human yet so that was good, but he still would not stop his hunt for a victim, so Damien had no choice but to take action. He fought the vampire but his mind was only half there so the vamp got in one good shot to his stomach, but Noah still got him. Once he was done he started back to the hospital.

Charlotte could still feel her body, but she felt distance for some reason. She could hear people talking and could hear beeping that sounded like it was coming from right next to her. She came to the conclusion that she was in the hospital, but could not remember how she got their or why she was there. The last thing she remembered was leaving the gym after her karate class then every thing is a blank. She couldn't feel anything from her neck up and she hoped that didn't mean she was paralyzed. She tried to open her eyes but for some reason she just couldn't get them open. After a while she gave up on trying to wake up. She listened to some of the more interesting conversations that were going on.

One conversation was about a patient that came here almost every day because she thinks something is wrong with her, but they think she just wants some attention because her son finally moved out and got married. Then she heard a couple's argument about how they should stop meeting in the supply closet at their break times, because they almost got caught yesterday. She couldn't help but laugh, even in her mind, at that.

The next conversation she heard was about her. She heard words like bloody mess, death and one that surprised her more than any of the other ones, vampire attack. She was shocked for a moment, and then she started to try to remember what had happened to her. She didn't believe in vampires or anything supernatural for that matter. She thought the doctor must be a nut job. However, she couldn't help thinking that he might right, because she was numb from her neck up.

Charlotte started to freak out, the beeping beside her got faster, and she couldn't help but notice that the beeping matched her heart beats. Then she felt something touch her face, which surprised her because she couldn't feel anything else. The touch was soothing and calming, her heart started to slow and her breath came easily.

The hand that touched her was warm and soft but she could tell those were fighting hands. She could tell because her hands were exactly the same way, soft but hard, strong but fragile at the same time. She felt the power in them and couldn't help but feel like she has felt them before, but couldn't remember when or where.

Just then the door to her room opened and someone came in. She didn't know who it was but she was mad because she wanted to be alone with the mystery person for a little while longer.

"How is she?" a man with a deep voice asked. She now knew that the mystery person was a male.

"She is alive thanks to you. If you hadn't have gotten her here when you did she would be dead." She realized that this man must be one of her doctors.

"Good, that's very good. Do you know her name?", the mystery man asked while he brushed her cheek with soft, barely there fingers.

"No, we were kind of hopping you might know who she is. She didn't have any identification on her when you brought her in," the doctor said with a little surprise in his voice.

"No I don't know who she is. I was just walking by when I found her in the ally, sorry," After he said that all her memories came flooding back and her heart sped up again and not even the warm fingers on her cheek could stop it.

Charlotte was stuck in her memories of the previous night. She was running from a man who had tried to attack her while she was walking to her car. She had fought him and ran, but he had caught her and then knocked her out and then it's all black and fussy.

"Its okay, your fine. You're safe here." The voice broke through to her and brought her back to the present. It was a voice she knew she would now know anywhere, even if she didn't know what the owner of the voice looked like yet. He was so close she could smell him, and he smelled so good. The smell of him, his voice and his fingers lightly brushing her cheek all seemed to calm her down. Soon her heart beat was back to normal and the beeping beside her slowed along with her heart.

Charlotte couldn't explain it, for some reason this mystery man seemed to calm her every nerve and bring her back from the brink of a panic attack. She really wanted to wake up so she could see him and talk to him but as much as she tried she could not bring herself out of this deep darkness she was in.

Since she couldn't wake up she was glad that he didn't remove his had from her face, she was also glad that she could feel his hand since she couldn't feel anything else. As soon as she was calm enough she started to wonder how he knew about the attack. Could he read minds? Or could he just since her distress?

Later on that evening she passed the time by picturing what her mystery looked like. Whatever, she came up with wasn't good enough for the hand that she felt on her cheek. He had left a couple of hours ago; she was so mad that she couldn't wake up to tell him not to leave her. She could still feel the warmth of his hand on her cheek. She missed the warmth and comfort that touch brought her when he left.

"Come on Charlotte wake up already, we have to find out who that mystery man is," she thought to herself. She gave it one more try but her body would not respond for some reason, so all she could do was wait and she hated waiting.
