The Queen of Shadows (an MLP fanfic)

Chapter 4

After breakfast, Flurry Heart decided to take the time to explore her new home. If there was one thing she loved besides her empire and family, it was looking for hidden passages.

Meanwhile, in a hidden room in the palace, King Sombra was keeping a watchful eye on his new bride with the help of a magic mirror.

He couldn't help but smirk at her curiosity.

"King Sombra." A voice whispered from behind him. 

Sombra jumped at the sound and turned around to see a shadow floating on the wall. "Oh, its just you." He composed himself. "What is it? I told you to make your presence known before sneaking up on me like that."

"My humblest apologizes, your majesty. " They bowed to him. "But, the others and I were talking. And, well, we were wondering, judging from your behavior towards her earlier, do you really love this princess? This Flurry Heart?"

"Absolutely not." He stated. "What a ridiculous notion."

"But, the way you treated her." the shadow countered. "The crystal you gave to her on your second meeting. Asking for her hoof in place of the empire."

"I only gave them the option of giving me her hoof in marriage because I knew there was no way they would ever give me their beloved daughter. I hadn't planned on her barging in and wanting to make the choice herself!" He exclaimed. "So I gave her the crystal to find my cave, thinking she would rather save herself than her empire."

"But the ring, the room, the dress, the meal. What was all that for if you hadn't expected her to agree to your marriage?"

"Ah, see, that is where my new plan comes into affect." He grinned. "It's true her agreeing to my proposal for marriage was unexpected, but it was just a temporary set back. And now I see how her marrying me could help my plan in a way I hadn't thought of. First, I get into her good graces. Once that is done, I ask if she would like to visit her home one last time. When she says yes, we will go to the kingdom together. Once there, we shall visit the palace and her family. Once they see how happy she is with me, they will have no choice but to agree to our union. And once we are married, and I take the throne as the new king of the empire, we shall rule over and enslave all the crystal ponies!" He finished his plan off with an evil laugh. "Leave me."

"Yes, sir." The shadow then disappeared and he was alone again.

"Don't worry, my dear." He said to her silently. "For soon, you shall be my queen. And we shall rule that precious empire of yours, together."
