Y/N was in quite the situation. She was stationed as a combat medic in the war along Sakura. She had been put in charge of saving her best friend's cousin: Neji. Though it seemed impossible at the time, that's exactly what she did. Ever since then, she began noticing him more and more.
Before she knew it, she developed quite the crush on the boy. Although she was very oblivious to the fact that's what it was. Every time she saw the brunette in the streets, she couldn't help but stare.

Sometimes their eyes met and sometimes she even caught him staring first. But for some reason neither of them approached the other.  They were often in close proximity of each other  due to the fact that she was often seen at Hinata's.

Neji released a deep sigh. It was no mistake that all the others liked her. The way she was focused on all that was truly important and never had an unkind word to speak. She was so good natured, it was near impossible to dislike Y/N.

Her smile was so genuine it had made you feel a smile coming to your face as well. She was funny, too. So funny you often found yourself gasping for air whenever she told a joke. They were never sloppy jokes either, but cunning and well thought out.
And Neji just couldn't seem to approach her right.

Y/N was the only girl who had ever caused him to double take. He was a focused and disciplined individual, but when it came to her all that was lost. It was even slightly beginning to annoy him.
For some reason, everyone knew why, except for him. Lately it seemed as though he hadn't been able to avoid the girl. And it didn't seem to help much that she was conveniently best friends with his cousin Hinata.

Laughter was heard from the front porch of the Hyuuga estate. There was no mistaking it, Y/N was here with his cousin.

"Neji Nii-san?" Hinata's voice questioned his name, causing the Hyuuga to freeze. "I'm not sure...why?" Curious, he headed towards the women for further inspection. He needed to know why he was the topic of discussion. "Well..." He heard Y/n's voice end with laughter. "I'd just like to see him smile" A blush stung at his cheeks. Had he heard that right?

"What's that look for?" She asked Hinata, who had been eying her quite suspiciously. "What look?" she played dumb, soon bursting into a giggle. "I do agree." she quieted down now, serious. "Although that's not a very simple task"

"I like a challenge" she smiled to Hinata, standing to her feet. "I wish you luck" she rooted for her. "He'll be inside"

Y/n traveled inside the house, scanning the interior. It had been decorated traditionally and everything was neat and tidy. Something ahead caught her eye, so  she stepped toward it focused on the object.

Ahead was a large picture frame that held a photograph of Hinata and Neji. A smile tugged at the corners of y/n's lips as she found that Neji was smiling. Her heart throbbed at the sight.  With a deep sigh out she took in her surroundings and tensed. It looked as though she'd totally walked into Neji's room by accident.

A cool breeze rattled the doors that led to the back porch, directing her attention to a figure outside. Neji. There he was sitting quietly, looking out to the distance as the summer breeze tossed his hair about. Without a sound, Y/N left the room to approach the brunette.

"Is this what you do in your free time?" Her question was too sudden, as he'd taken immediate measures to defend himself, pinning her to the grassy floor beneath him. Y/n's eyes widened as she wasn't at all prepared for her current position. A deep blush had risen in both of their cheeks as they scrambled to separate.

"Forgive me" Neji apologized, lending her a palm. "You startled me."
"Sorry" Y/N laughed, situating herself beside him. Silence followed, as he crossed his legs once more and continued his meditation. "Is it hard?" she asked softly, her eyes scanning the features of his relaxed expression. "Not really" he replied, opening his eyes and stealing a glance at her.
"Well, you make it look easy." she grabbed at the grass beneath her, tearing it out. "I don't believe I could stay still for that long"
