It was getting on for 7pm and everyone was gathered around the office table at the Wilson Arms, waiting for Abbi to arrive because of some big announcement she had. No one had seen her in about 3 years because she went to live in America to work, she had been back a week and everyone was excited to see her, but they just wanted to know what the announcement was.
Abbi confidently walked into the pub where she had started working at when she was Nineteen years old, this pub held so many memories for her, good and bad. Here she met some of her best friends and some people she couldn't stand. She smiled brightly as nothing had changed, the same colours, same tables and chairs and mostly importantly.. the same people. Most people doing a double take when they saw her, saying hello and welcome back as she waved and said her fair share of hellos before reaching the office table.
"HEY GUYS." She shouted and laughed as everyone turned to look at her, she was still the same girl that left three years ago, but she also completely different. Her light blue eyes sparkled as usual, but her normal short dark hair was now long caramel waves, the tall, pale ,fat girl was now the tall slim sun kissed girl, Abbi went around hugging everyone, stopping at Rich, he was her best friend and she told him everything, she made sure that when she was gone, she would email him everyday, but even he didn't know her news. She breathed in his aftershave as she held onto him tightly, god she missed him.
"I've missed you so much, Alder."
Rich smiled at her, as he pulled out a bar stool for her, she happily took the seat, hooking her bag on the back, and watched as everyone turned to her. She laughed softly and shook her head.
"Anyone want to share a bottle of wine? I need a drink before I say anything." Abbi smirked and jumped back up and going over to the bar, for once in her life she didn't know the person behind the bar. She ordered her bottle of White Zinfandal, grabbing the bottle and the glass and made her way back to the table, she could feel every ones eyes on her as she slowly started to pour herself a large glass.
"So, I've got us tickets to go and see...NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK. Tonight at 8, so I was thinking we could all just go from here to club?" Abbi smirked as she pretended this was her surprise, when it really wasn't. Keith and Lee looked at her and both started to laugh.
"Do you know what Abs? I'm definitely in for this. I'll phone Gina and tell her to come down."Lee nodded in agreements, Keith walked away from the table as she brought the Iphone 6 up to his ear, before disappearing around a corner.
Lydia Laughed and shook her head.
"I'm not coming, I can't think of anything worse." She picked up her drink and took a sip, while Abbi looked over at her, she moved closer and whispered.
"Please Lyd, I need you there. Something is going to happen tonight, it's why I've got everyone tickets." She smiled softly as Lydia slowly started to nod.
"Fine, but if it's shit I'm going home." Abbi laughed nodded. While Alder came over and stood inbetween them, resting her arms on both their shoulders.
"Ab, I hope this is a good night, because it sounds shit. The only reason I'm coming is because of Keith and Lee." Abbi shrugged him off her, before turning away from him. She knew people were gonna take the piss out of her for doing this, but they didn't know the real reason yet, she wanted them all there for a reason and hopefully later on in the night, they would all cheer up.
A Couple of hours later;
The drinks were flowing and everyone was well on their way to being hammered, except alder of course. Abbi always felt safe around him, she knew if anything ever happened to her, he would be by his side. The DJ had just announced the band on, all the 'blockheads' were at the front trying to grope the guys as much as they could, and you could tell the guys loved every minute of the attention and just being on the stage.
