The three got to where the pack doctor was who worked at the hospital. When they walked into the room and shut the door, the twins heard a stern voice from behind the curtains.
"You're late."
"Sorry, Doc. Had to take Kenzou here to get his Band at school." Ethan replied. The grey-haired man walked out from behind the curtains and when he saw the young boy standing behind the two twins, his eyes widened for a split second before he regained his composure.
"Well, I don't believe we've exchanged names before, I'm Doctor Hiroka. I look after the twins." He smiled and reached out his hand slowly for Kenzou to shake. Kenzou, after a few seconds, realised the man had no intention to hurt him so he slowly walked out from behind Evan and shook the man's hand slowly. His hand was weak and shaky, not firm at all, but the man didn't care. His sleeve came up his wrist for a few seconds and Kenzou noticed this. He pointed to his wrist.
"Your wrist. It's hurt." He spoke quietly, worrying for the man he had just met. "How?"
"Oh, this? It's fine. I got this a few years back. Nothing to worry about-"
"You didn't answer my question." Kenzou spoke slightly louder than he had intended to before stepping back and his eyes were filled with fear. "Sorry, I-I-I didn't mean to." He covered his face and hid behind the twins.
"Don't worry, son. No harm done." This sentence made Kenzou's eyes go wide for a second before he nodded silently.
"Now that we've got that out of the way, why don't we move onto your checkup?" He asked, gesturing for the twins to sit on the bed. When they did, Kenzou stayed by the door.
Ethan pat the empty space next to him, "Come sit here, Kenzou." Kenzou sat down next to him silently. He sat there as the man he knew as Hiroka took the brothers' pulses, checked their regeneration rates, and made sure things were normal.
It was weird for Kenzou to come here, it was the second time that day. He was here earlier that day when Evan had to get his jaw fixed. But him and Hiroka didn't speak a word. He did, however, think Hiroka looked strange to him. But he put that in the back of his mind.
"-zou." But he wasn't sure if he could trust Evan and Ethan again. After all, they had lied to him.
"-enzou!" They had told him he wouldn't have to see his step-mother ever again.. but they lied. He was sure they could see the pain in his eyes when he looked at his step-mother at the front door of the hospital.
"Kenzou!" He snapped out of his trance and looked at the three with blank, dead eyes. He saw the twins looking at his worriedly. "Are you okay?" Ethan asked. "We were calling your name. But you didn't respond. Is something wrong?"
Kenzou gently shook his head. "Mm, nothing wrong." He replied. Hiroka touched Kenzou's hand.
"I was going to ask if it was okay to do a checkup on you, too. The twins have informed me of you being their mate and that your step-mother didn't treat you well. But could I have an examination?" He asked.
Kenzou glanced at the twins who nodded before looking back at Hiroka.
"Yes. You may."
And so he sat on the bed as Hiroka took a small blood sample, checked his pulse and his regeneration rates. He asked Kenzou questions like "How are you feeling?" or "is everything okay?" He barely responded. He looked confused, sad and scared. His eyes held that one look someone would have when they're about to cry.
"I'm sorry son, am I hurting you?" Hiroka asked. Kenzou shook his head. The twins hugged Kenzou in their arms but Kenzou just stayed lifeless. Like a doll.
