I rushed into the hospital room my mum was in quickly as I heard her machines beeping frantically, I had just nipped out to get a coffee and left Grace and Louis in charge of keeping an eye on her. My mum had leukaemia which she had for over a year and unfortunately it was untreatable. Today she had been rushed in unconscious whilst I was at Graces', I felt so guilty for not being at home when she needed me. "What's matter with her?! Why are her machines beeping like that?" I said out of breath as doctors and nurses rushed in to check her over, Louis was straight by my side comforting me and Grace was a bit shocked from it all as she tried to explain what had happened since I had been gone.
"She was just breathing calmly then all of a sudden-" Grace shrugged and chewed her lip as she peered over at my mum to see what was going on. "Her machines just started up like this..." she carried on.
"Is she going to be alright?" I asked the nurses worriedly.
"I'm sorry miss Keegan but you're going to have to leave the room." The nurse looked at me then Grace and Louis, they nodded and brung me out of the room, I started to cry as I watched through the window then they closed the blinds, I knew deep down something wasn't right. Ten minutes later of pacing up and down the corridor waiting for any news, the nurse finally came out and the look on her face said it all, I started to break down as I shook my head and repeatedly shouted "No!".
The horrific memory of my mother passing away woke me up from my deep sleep, I rubbed my eyes and moved my long, brunette hair out of my face, I sat up and felt as if I had just relived what had happened 4 years ago. I let out a heavy sigh and pulled on my soft, white dressing gown and tried to put that horrible nightmare behind me. I slowly went downstairs and smelt my dad's cooking, smelt like a full English to me which I was hoping it was.
I slumped down at the dining table and rubbed my head, my dad looked back at me and laughed slightly "Hangover?" I scowled at him and gets myself some fresh juice, "No dad, not a hangover." I playfully nudged him out of the way as I sat back down, he brung my plate of food over and it was gone in minutes, it was just what I needed to start my day at University.
There was a knock at the door and I motioned my dad to go and answer it, he shakes his head and gets up to go and answer, I heard muffled voices and caught the words of someone saying "Is she up yet? If she isn't they will be hell to pay!" I shook my head and realised it was my best bud, Louis.
I was sipping my juice waiting for him to come running in, I counted down and I was right, when I got to one he had his arms thrown around me. "Frankie! You're up, feeling alright?" Louis smirked at me with his cheeky smile as he shook his brown locks of hair out of his face, I did have a mighty fine looking best friend. Soon enough I was dressed and ready to go out of the door with Louis, he was kindly dropping me off at University as he was passing for work, he was a qualified drama teacher and a good one too. I waved goodbye to my dad and hopped in Louis' blue mini. I sat in the passenger seat and made sure I looked acceptable as I was rushing about, Louis started driving along with the radio on.
"Heard any news on estate agents on Holmes Chapel yet then?" Louis asked me as he quickly glanced my way. I nodded and gave him an excited grin "Yep! My dad recommended this great one and got a few house viewings in a couple of weeks so hopefully, we'll be house mates soon Tommo!" I could see Louis smiling from the corner of my eye.
I could of sunk into the car seat as I saw my University ahead of me, I really wasn't in the mood for any studying. Louis patted my knee "Good luck Franks! See you soon." I smiled at him as I collected my stuff and hopped out of his car. "Have fun with a bunch of annoying kids!" I teased as he drove off with his middle finger hanging out of the window to me. Oh he had brightened up my day.
I approached university and went inside up to where my class was, I just kept quiet and got on with what I had to do hoping that the time would pass quickly and that I could just start my shift at Costa Coffee.
Uni passed by quickly as I hoped and I was now starting my short shift at work, the sooner I am home in bed the better. I served the little, old local woman her coffee and cake and off she went to sit in her usually spot by the window, I smiled and then jumped as I was in a world of my own as I heard my dad's voice. "What can a man do to get service around here?" My dad joked and teased me, his brown, loving eyes sparkled as I gave him a tight hug. "Hiya dad! What you doing here? Did you finish work early?" I asked as I started making his coffee the way he liked it, he nodded and smiled "Yeah got let off early." He replied cheerfully and sat and had his coffee sat on a stool.
It was 7:00pm and my dad was still waiting by the counter to drive me home, I would of normally drove home but I didn't have my car on me because of Louis and his kind gestures. I smiled at the thought of him and threw off my apron, let my hair down out of the hair tie and walked out to my dad's car. Thank God I was finally going home, I needed my bed.
A few, boring weeks passed by and I was getting more impatient by the day, I just wanted to look round houses already and start choosing, this was a very exciting time in my life and I just wanted it to hurry up. I got on with my studying and working at the coffee shop, I had almost packed up all of my things but I still felt like I was going to forget something. I felt quite sad about leaving my dad behind and heading off but I know he will be fine, he can look after himself and I will most probably be calling back with bundles of washing. It was the night before my first viewing and I was extremely excited, I was sat on the sofa in my warm pjamas and was typing up one of my assignments for University, I could barely concentrate as I was too excited for the morning.
The morning soon came around and I was up bright and early, I could not wait to choose my future home, I went off into bathroom and had a shower and brushed my teeth, I sorted out my hair sat in my bedroom in just my towel, I dried it and shoved it up into a loose bun and clipped it in place. I started on my make-up and that was soon done, I pulled out some light denim jeans and a white crochet top with my favourite wooley cardigan. When I went downstairs I found my dad sat in living room watching sky sports news so I decided to throw together something for my breakfast, I settled with weetabix with strawberries with a glass of orange juice. ''You all set then?'' My dad said as he wandered into kitchen with a empty plate and put it in the dishwasher, I sighed with relief it had finally came around after weeks of waiting. ''Yes, I can't wait!'' I said enthusiastically, my dad smiled and waffled on ''Well, ring me if you get stuck on which one to choose? I have a good eye for houses!'' I rolled my eyes and smirked as I finished my weetabix and headed out to my little black fiat 500 and hopped in, turned the engine on and went off to meet my estate agent at the first house.
