-no pov.-awsten and jordan had become good friends. best friends really and they've only known each other for two weeks, but considering they both didn't have much friends originally. it gave them lots of time to hang out and do school work together.
awsten sat with jordan and her other so called friends. he had few encounters with kaitlyn, usually she was just trying to get with him and turn him on jordan.
kaitlyn had tried to convince him jordan was a bitch and she was perfect for him. in all honesty he hadn't seen the bitch side of jordan. she was a sweetheart and weird but in a good way. she was finally opening up to awsten. awsten assumed she never could be herself around the people at their school. he was glad she could be herself around him.
awsten and jordan were sitting on a bridge across a small creek. they really liked coming here or jordans tree house in her backyard. yes, jordan still had a treehouse, it was her safe place. jordan sat swaying her feet in the shallow lukewarm water.
"you dont believe her do you?" jordan asked awsten
"hell fucking no!" he said "kaitlyn is the bitch!"
they were discussing what kaitlyn had said. he had an encounter just before school had got out.
"like how did she approach you?" jordan was getting angry.
"i was like just walking down the hallway and she grabbed me by the wrist. she pulled me by her locker and tried to convince me she would make me happy?" he said "i dunno really, i was kind of pinned against the locker and she touched my face. i was uncomfortable."
jordan sighed. "i hate her so much. almost more than myself."
awsten felt kind of sad for jordan. he wanted her to be happy.
———
"are y-you and awsten dating?" a boy said. she didn't recognize the voice at first. jordan turned around from her drawing. they were in art class and it didn't really matter if you talked. it was zeke.
jordan sighed. "no but if i was would it be any of your business?" he knew what game he was playing, trying to act all innocent to make her feel even worse.
"i guess not" he started to fumble with his pencil "i miss you jordan."
jordan felt the anger creep up in her chest. her face turned a light shade of pink. she was angry, upset, and embarrassed.
zeke had cheated on jordan with kaitlyn. she had always worried about them getting together. they hated each other but sometimes had to act nice because they belonged to the same friend group.
before jordan could reply the bell rang. she got up and put her things away. zeke tried to grab jordan before she walked away.
"don't fucking touch me." she hissed before walking out of the classroom leaving zeke standing there embarrassed.
he wasn't surprised, he deserved it and she deserved better.
jordan walked quickly through the halls. she was about to cry and jordan never cried, only a few times in her life.
she was a tad broken from a young age. she started to pack up her bag. the bell rang signaling it was okay to leave. awsten usually drove jordan home. so it wasn't a surprise when he chased after her.
"jordan?" he grabbed her shoulder and spun her around to look at her. "are you okay? what's wrong?" you could hear the worry in his voice. jordan never cried. "was it fucking kaitlyn?"
"no, well yes but no." her voice cracked. this would be only the second time she cried over zeke.
"lets go to my house and we can maybe talk this out" awsten said grabbing her hand and pulling her over to his car to go to his home.
soon enough they were at awstens house and in his room. awsten was sitting on his bed and jordan was pacing the small room.
"come here and tell me what's upset you" he said patting his bed, "you never cry, or atleast that's what you told me."
jordan didn't refuse and sat next to awsten. she didn't look like she was going to cry, her face wasn't the shade of pink anymore, her face was just blank. awsten felt empty looking at her. jordan had only told awsten a little bit about zeke like that they used to date but didn't anymore.
"zeke told me he missed me today." she said in almost a whisper.
"jordan! what's so bad about that!" he said surprised it was what flustered the small girl.
"did i ever explain why we broke up?" she looked at him.
"no, but if that's what's upsetting you tell me." he said. jordan came over and sat next to him resting her head on his shoulder. even though the two weren't dating, jordan really just liked being close to people.
jordan sighed. "well it was a week after our 3rd anniversary. i was going to his house and i had a key. i always let myself in it was just normal for eachother. i even planned to move in after highschool. everything was okay, a few bumps here and there, until that day. i came in and i heard a faint moan..." awstens heart shattered for her, he knew what she was gonna say.
"i ran up the stairs thinking he wouldn't. walked into see a naked kaitlyn on top of my boyfriend. i remember her face. she laughed and kissed him again. she knew where to hit me hard. she was always jealous and just always had it out for me. zeke chased me out to my car but i was done." now her face was red again.
awsten just pulled her into a hug. "what an asshole, no wonder you hate her. i am so sorry jordan. you don't deserve that."
"i always felt like i wasn't enough after that. my mind roamed the possibilities of why. i'm sorry for throwing this all on you. i shouldn't have told you. i don't want you to have to deal with me" she turned to him.
she wasn't gonna cry she kept trying tell herself. zeke was her first relationship and her last for a while unless someone could change that. they sat there in silence for a little bit. awstens heart hurt for jordan. he really cared for her even if they hadn't known eachother for long. it felt like years.
"lets go on an adventure." awsten said breaking the silence.
"what?" jordan lifted her head off his shoulder.
"i said let's go on an adventure!" he said jumping up. "we have a long weekend coming up! let's do something together! get your mind of things." awsten thought this was a great idea and was grinning.
"i mean if you want to..." jordan was a tad shocked because no one ever wanted to hang out with her. "where would we go?"
"where ever you would like." awsten smirked.
jordan thought for a second. "could it possibly involve flying somewhere far? my mom wouldn't care even though it is last minute." jordan assumed awsten would think that's crazy.
"my mom will be gone this weekend anyways and i have money from my gigs i play." awsten was getting all excited.
"wait awsten plays gigs?" jordan wondered to herself but quickly brushed it aside.
"what about we get out of ohio and go to california?" jordan was now up and grinning along with awsten.
"LA HERE WE COME!" awsten jumped up. his goal was to make her happy, four days in california and only them? fuck yeah awsten thought.
a/n: sooOooOo i know people don't usually make trips like last minute so i'm sorry if that's unrealistic but hey i mean i've done it before so.
