III.

The following Thursday, I called Niall up and asked him if he wanted to go out on the town.

Of course he did.

"C'mon, Lou, get in the car!" he shouted at me from outside.

I groaned, grabbing my coat and stopping once to look in the mirror.

I wore the same thing I usually wore out; Black skinny jeans, a pair of adidas, and a plain white shirt.

I made sure to lock up the house before I threw myself into Niall's passenger seat.

"Where we goin'?" I asked him, buckling up and putting my black jacket on my lap.

"I dunno. Feel like goin' to the sports bar? They might have a shirley temple for you there," he teased, winking at me and slamming on the gas pedal.

"Whatever, I could easily down a few glasses of whatever you drink," I retorted defiantly.

"Wanna make it a bet?"

"Oh sure. How much?" I replied, pulling my wallet from the one of the pockets of my jacket.

"Fifty!"

"How 'bout a hundred?"

"Lou, you know I don't have money like that to spend. Seventy five?"

"Deal," I said, melting back into my chair, staring at the road.

"Chug, Louis! Chug it!" Niall shouted at me over the loud noise in the bar.

I had only two drinks prior to this one, and I was already feeling tipsy. How could I make it through fifteen of them like Niall said he would?

The cold liquid of the guinness beer slipped from the mug and onto my cheeks, but I didn't put it down until it was all gone.

"Damn," Niall huffed. "Didn't think you'd make it through three. Truth is, I'm not in much of a drinking mood."

"Really?"

"I'm jus' kiddin', Lou. You know i drink more than a... pirate?"

"Was that all you could come up with?"

"Yeah."

Five drinks later, I couldn't comprehend what was going on around me.

Two drinks after that, I couldn't see much, everything was turning.

Three more, I didn't fight when two hands pulled me at the waist and took me out of the bar.

Was it Niall?
