"Don't pray for an easy life. Pray for the strength to endure a difficult one."
-Bruce LeeI wake to a painful hit to the head. I open my eyes and notice that I'm in a car and we are moving fast.
"Where am I?" I whisper softly to myself.
"Germany." Someone says beside me and I jump, turning to look at him. I sceetch in pain when my shirt rubs against my back and the man looks at me.
"What's wrong?" He asks.
"Back." I whisper and he motions me to look out side.
Why?
I turn around and look outside but there isn't anything there. Just trees and this weird white stuff.
"What?" I ask looking around outside. I feel the shirt get lifted and he hits his door.
"Stop the car." He yells up front and the car slows to a stop and pulls to the side of the road.
"We have to clean her back before it gets infected." He says and opens his door. He steps out and walks to the back of the car and opens the trunk.
"Water?" I ask softly turning in my seat to look at him. He looks at me and nods. He opens a big blue thing with a white lid and pulls out a bottle of water. He also grabs a white container with a red plus sign on it and closes the trunk. He climbs back in next to me and opens the bottle. He hands me the bottle and I take a few sips of the cool water.
"Thank you." I whisper and he nods. He reaches over me and pulls a lever that makes my seat tip back till it's flat.
"Lay on your stomach." He says opening the white box. I do as told to prevent any more harm and he lifts the shirt.
"Can I start driving again?" The man in the front asks.
"No. she needs stitches." The man next to me says and pulls out another weird pointy thing. He sticks it in my back and soon I can't feel the pain from the whips.
"N-name?" I ask softly and he looks at me.
"I'm Carter." He says and turns back to the white box. He pulls out a white pad of some sort and gets it wet with a clear substance that smells weird.
"This is rubbing alcohol. It's gonna burn. The sedative should numb it though." He says calmly and I nod.
"Do you know where your from?" He asks gently touching my back with the wet material.
"No." I say furrowing my eyebrows trying to think of anything that could help.
"What is in your necklace?" He asks and I look at him.
"What?" I ask confused. He looks over at me for a second and reaches forward to grab the back of my neck. I flinch and relax when he only grabs the back of my heart.
"Your necklace." He says tugging gently on the chain. I slowly reach up and pull the heart from under me. He sets the material down to open the heart.
"Alphonso." He whispers softly.
"Alphonso?" I repeat with a questioning tone.
"Yes..." he says but I cut him off.
"T-they called to him. A-a lot." I say shifting my eyes to look at him.
"They said his name?" He asks and I nod.
"He's. he is still looking?" I say questioningly.
"Yes." He says with a happy smile.
