Sometimes, I wonder why I can't do anything right. I mean I'm 17 years old and can't even talk to the girl I like. I just stand there gawking at her, trying to get the courage to speak.

"You Ok Jackson?" she asked me

'Why no' I thought 'I'm not, because I can't stop looking at your blue eyes that sparkle in the-' shaking my head to clear my thoughts, I smiled as one of my hands came up to rub the back of my head, a nervous habit, one of her pretty blonde eyebrows rising  up, she looked quizzically at me.

"Er...yeah Jane I'm fine, just a little tired," I said. My friends, Ciel and Elizabeth who were standing between Jane and I made noises that sounded like they weren't convinced. Jane seemed to accept it as she went on to say.

"Oh ha ha, of course, you did just play a whole game of hockey. You were awesome by the way" she smiled and her eyes twinkled under the lights making them look like shiny pearls. I thought my heart might explode.

"Oh...um...well, ya know...thanks" I stuttered. 'Great job idiot' I had to get out of this embarrassing situation or else I might just have to go to the nurse's office. I grinned down at her and moved to walk past. "So...I have to go, my mum wants me to look after my Lil bro Pip, so I'll just, ya know, go" I said trying to give any reason for leaving so abruptly.

As I walked/jogged away in the most inconspicuous way possible I could feel Jane's, Ciel's and Elizabeth's stares on me for my entire walk down the hallway. 'Phew, got away' I thought, looking over my shoulder to see if I was followed. I wasn't; so with that, I rested my hands on the back of my head and started for home. No need to stay out and run into people who would ask questions or worse run into Jane again, which would just make me look like a bigger idiot than I already was.

Getting home, I put my hockey gear into the sports box. My mum's a neat freak who likes everything to be in its place. Taking off my shoes and walking to the kitchen I went to get some berries and cream yoghurt when there was a knock at the door. 'Aw, I guess the yoghurt will have to wait,' I stood up and walked over to the door I had just came through.

There standing in front of me was Elizabeth my best friend, as well as Jane's best friend. She grinned her signature grin at me, 'oh no, she's grinning this wasn't good.'

"Hey Jackie how you going!" she greeted in her upbeat voice.

'Great I'm in hell.'

"Nothing much Elz, ya know just got home from the hockey game" I replied.

"Oh really?" she looked at me raising one of her eyebrows. "Because I thought you were making a fool of yourself in front of my bestest friend and your crush" she stated. I step to the side, hand in my hair.

"Elz you're making me feel even more pathetic." I moaned. She looked at me sympathetically before walking through the door and down the hall going into a room on the right. I shut the door and followed close behind her, going down a set of stairs and into a large room filled with all things mechanical.

Elizabeth went to the middle of the room where a half-built car was sitting. She ran her hand along the car and looked at me with her Elizabeth eyes. That meant I was in for a lecture of great magnitude.

'Great.'

"Jacky," she started, using her nickname from when we were 7.

'Oh no this is BAD'

"How long have you been working on this car?" She finished staring at me, just daring me to lie.

"Oh, um...5-6...ya know...usual" I replied as nonchalant as I could. Elizabeth wasn't deceived. 'She never was one to be gullible when it counted.'
