Once we have our applications in our hands and have the website that we need to do the online portion we head away from the line up of people and go towards the stairs. Glancing at the questions I giggle.

“What are you laughing at?” Dylan asks me

“Have you looked at these questions? They’re ridiculous!” I reply

“C’mon Ava, they cannot be that bad”

“Oh really? Well take a look,” I say pointing to one of the questions on the application “ How often do you want to have sexual relations with your match” I raise my eyebrows at him

“Well, its important.”

“No Dylan. Its not, knowing that isn’t going to help you find someone.”

“Will you just have an open mind about this Ava, the proceeds are going to a charity.” He replies and gives me the look again.

“Fine,” I breathe “but only cause you’re giving me the look”

“yay!” He says and smiles at me then hugs me.

The first bell indicating that lunch is over rings and its time to get to class.

“Okay, well I guess I’ll see you after school, drive home?” Dylan asks

“Yeah sounds good, we can talk about this bullshit application”

“Alright Ava” He laughs and finds one of the guys from hockey and they walk to class together.

In class the teacher is talking about some pointless life lesson in which no one is actually listening. I take this time and pull out the application to have a look at it. The first few questions are generic; male/female, age, interested in… the basics. However, has you get further down the paper the question become interesting, to say the least. “Do you prefer cuddling or other contact? “ Like what kind of question is that, clearly the students made these applications and teachers didn’t go over them. For heavens sake there is a whole sexual contact section on the damn thing. Some of them, are pointless and have nothing to do with anything, “What is your favourite candy?”, “Coke or Pepsi?”. I have to admit to that some of them are actually good questions, like favorite movie and music types. They also ask question based on what you’re looking for in a significant other, which is something they need to know-

“Ava?” I hear my name being called. I look up and the teacher is staring at me

“uh- yes?” I respond

“I asked you a question, im so glad you’re listening…” he says with sass in his voice.

“Im sorry, I was distracted.”

“You should be distracted by me, not… whatever it is you’re looking at.” I blush; I hate being singled out in front of classes. I try to be as discreet as possible 24/7, I guess not today though.

“I’m really sorry sir.”

“Okay, well will you please read page 9 since you cannot be bothered to listen.” I begin to read the pages out loud but I hear nothing. This is so boring im not even paying attention to what I am reading. My thoughts are over powering. Just as I finish up, the bell rings and I dart out of my seat and head to my next class.

My last two classes are fine and teachers don’t yell at me, thank god. I get to my locker and grab my things before heading over to Dylan’s. As usual when I get there all of the guys are crowding around his locker. Its been happening since he joined teams at school, but I cant seem to get used to it. I just feel weird always coming up to them.

“Hey Guys.” I say when I get there, and they all turn around.

“Hey, Ava. I’m almost finished.” Dylan replies with a smile. Scott one of the captains on the team, who also happens to be in my English class, turns to me.

“So Ava, are you going to do that dating thingy?” Why would he care?

“Umm… yeah Dylan and I are going to. But just for fun.” I respond

“Oh, well cool.”

“What about you?” I ask with a smile, so I look sincere

“Yeah, I think so. I guess we’ll see what happens.”

“You ready?” Dylan asks.

“Yup, lets go!” I say and they say bye and we head off to his car.

“That was weird…” I say to myself mostly and Dylan looks at me with a weird look.

“What was weird?”

“Why would Scott care if I was doing the dating thing?” I scrunch my brow in confusion

“Maybe, he wants to get paired with you” He winks

“haha, I don’t think so, why would he?”

“C’mon Ava, cut yourself some slack. You’re a nice and pretty girl.”

“Dylan all I want to do right now I laugh in your face.” I say chuckling.

“What happens if you get paired with him?” He asks me

“Well then I guess we will see where it goes.” I say.

We get to his car and get in. By this time the parking lot isn’t too busy and we can leave easily. The whole way home all I can think about it Scott. Why would he care? Why am I still thinking about it? I’ve never really thought anything of Scott. I mean he’s tall and isn’t too horrible to look at, I haven’t talked to him much so I don’t know how that is but, I don’t know im so confused. We pull up to his drive way and I get out of the car. He gets out to,

“Ava, stop worrying.” He says

“im not!” He smirks at me

“I can tell you are, you’re just over thinking things. Go inside and make your application, we have to hand them in asap.”

“Alright, alright. I’ll see you tomorrow. Are you gonna pick me up or should I meet you there?”

“Naw I’ll walk over and get you and we can go.”

“Okay, see you tomorrow. Happy application filling.” I say with a smile and I go into my house and he heads to his. This should be fun.
