"Da Mi-sshi, table five please."
"On my way!," you shouted in reply. You let out a deep sigh. You have to do it, you had no choice. Living far away from home isn't easy, but staying there is hard too.
Bringing up the past won't bring to any change, so you just have to roll with it. Two years working at the cafe pays off your living expenses, but never fully satisfy your needs. You need more money than this, you need a better income to survive.
You were in the cloud of your mind as the drink in front of you spilled at your apron, it's all wet now.
"Aish," a voice scoffed, you quickly stood up to apologize, bowing ninety degrees and your mouth mumbling words of apologizes. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry...I--..,"
The man's deep voice cutting your words off, "Sorry? You've gotta be kidding me. You spilled it on purpose! Look what have you done to my suit. Can you pay even if you work for a thousand years?! Fuck right, you can't! It's that expensive!,"
You gritted your teeth as you clenched your fists, glaring your eyes at him, you decided to speak up for yourself. It's enough, you don't need this humiliation.
He scoffed, "This bitch right here is fucking glaring at me! Why? Are you mad? You shouldn't be! I'm the victim, I'm suppose to be mad at you! You dirty little--," His hands swings up in the air, aiming at you. You didn't expect him to hit you, you close your eyes, waiting for the impact.
But you didn't feel any pain at neither your cheeks. Did he hit you already?
"That's enough," a voice said in a patronizing tone.
Slowly, your eyes blink open, the jerk was stopped by another man. He was much younger than that jerk but more muscular, and taller. You studied his features closely, he looked Korean.
"You took it way too far, ahjusshi." He said with a smile. His hand gripping at the man's wrist.
Wait, he is Korean?! But judging by his accent, he was so fluent.
"Get your hands off me," the man said then pushed the guy away from him.
You swear you saw him clenching his jaw, then tightened his fist. When he started to charge towards the man, you closed your eyes with your hands, not wanting to see what happens next.
Still, you kept a space between your fingers open for you to peek through it.
You didn't hear any sound of people arguing, punching each other's faces out, whining or
groaning in pain instead there was silence.
You bring down your hands slowly from your face to saw the guy who stopping in front of that
jerk, smirking then stifles a laugh.
What's so funny?
"You asshole! Why the fuck are you laughing?!," the man shouted.
"You know, you can't really fool people by asking them to pay for you cheap suit. You're just
being pathetic," he said then scoffed.
"What did you just say? Have you live long enough to die today?!," the man shouted in anger, charging towards the guy, grabbing him by his collar.
With just one push, the jerk was off him, falling onto the floor which are still unclean from the spilled drink.
He walked towards the man, bending his knees to level his eyes with the man, pulling out his wallet from his back pocket he threw a couple of dollars at the man. "If you're desperate enough for money, you don't have to insult an innocent person who did nothing wrong towards you. I just pity seeing people like you wandering around the city, it makes me sick." The guy spitted out in front of the man's face.
With another warning, the man ran off running. You stood there, blinking your eyes while trying to process what had happened.
"Are you okay?,"
"W-what?," you stutter in your words, you look up, seeing his face just inches away from you, he took out his sunglasses then held you by putting his hands on both of your shoulder.
"Hmm..I don't think that you are. Your face is pale, are you that shocked?," he asks.
You look away, then put your hands on his chest, putting pressure then pushed him away from you. "I'm fine...thank you," you said.
"I just hate discrimination. People shouldn't be treated differently. It's just nit fair to me. So you don't have to thank me, I'm just doing what's right." He said.
"Well then, I should get going." He continued, he turn his back on you then started to head towards the exit.
"Wait!," you shouted.
You widened your eyes as you saw what you hands were gripping on.
WAIT. WHY DID I GRAB HIS HANDS?
You immediately pull your hands away, he stared at you blankly.
"I..I...,"
What are you doing Ji Da Mi?!
"I should at least repay you!," you said fastly, closing your eyes because you can't handle the shame after seeing his reaction.
"Uhh...well...,"
You blink your left eye open, His hands grabbing something from his wallet. He reached out your hands and lend you something thin and felt like a paper, you look down and saw a card.
"If you feel burdened, contact me whenever you're free. I'll be there . Waiting for the favor to return," he said with grin. His dimples showing off as he smiles.
Then he left, leaving you dumbfounded.
What the hell just happened..
