A R T E M I S

Percy Jackson is insufferable. He clearly doesn't understand how much trouble he is causing for me. Why can't he just tell me where he is?

It's been days since I communicated with him through his dreams and I don't feel any close to finding him. We have looked in every possible place that Thalia thought he could be.

The small town we are in is barely a spot on the map. But for the first time we get a lead. Like usual we ask around for any unusual looking dark haired boys. Someone mentions that a dark haired boy was working at the cafe. It's not much, but it's something.

A woman, Ells her name is. She seems so sad and confused, like a mother who's lost their child. She rings her hands and shakes her head at the same time. "He just left! He was here one day for work and then he just disappeared!"

I look over at Thalia, she looks at me. Definitely what someone on the run would do.

"Did he have a name?" Thalia asks.

"He just called himself Peter, he said he'd run away from home. I was trying to help him out, you know?" The poor woman seemed beside herself. I make a mental note to bring Perseus back here to apologise when I find him.

"I'm sure you were helping him," Thalia says kindly. She is far better at talking to mortals than I am. "Do you remember what he looked like?"

"Dark hair, green eyes I think," Ells rings her hands again.

"Thank you so much for your help," Thalia says. "You wouldn't happen to have any idea where he would go?"

Ells shakes her head. But she has been helpful. We know he can't have gone too far if he is in this general direction.

And then I have an idea.

"You wouldn't have his apron from when he worked here, would you?" I ask her.

She looks at me strangely. "Why?"

Thalia cuts in, "He's a really good friend and we just want something to remember him by, if we can't get him back."

Thalia really is good. I nod at her in approval. I do not regret making her second in charge.

Ells looks at us for a long second but then she nods and goes into the back of the cafe. A moment later and she has the apron.

I thank her and we head back outside. There is no way Perseus Jackson can escape me now. I show the apron to the wolves that travel with my hunters. They are incredibly well trained and they know how to follow a scent. With the wolves going after Percy, he's as good as found.

I smile at Thalia and we follow the dogs out of the town. In no time I will have Percy and I will be able to move on to greater things.
