Rhys can't put his finger on it, but something about the new kid - Roman - rubs him entirely the wrong way. He cocks his head to the side, eyes narrowed at the point where the other boy is sitting, laughing, like he's mocking Rhys' thoughts, his dirty blonde head thrown back in a way that's entirely too... too... pretty to be natural.
Beside him, Vanessa sighs. "By the Old One's," she stubs her cigarette out against the leg of the table and drops it onto the ground, "you need to get laid."
From across the room, Rhys can still hear Cleo fucking Roman's mocking laughter. "Fuck you."
. . .
Welcome to the City of Requiem. Here space is an illusion and Benders, the lucky few blessed by the Old, mold the city, their iron fortress, to their will.
But fortresses have a nasty habit of keeping more than what you want in and leaving even less of what you want out. Even in the seemingly endlessly shifting levels of Requiem.
People to Know
Cleo Roman
- The new kid. He's kinda perfect and Rhys hates him. A total fuck boy who can Bend better than the best. Rhys wants to punch him in his pretty little face.
Rhys Winters
- Our protagonist. He is not a fuck boy and can't Bend to save his life... Okay so maybe he can Bend then. Smart and spastic and easy to anger, Rhys is a volatile combination of 'do not mess with'.
Vanessa Sigebert
- Rhys' best friend by default. Able to Bend with an ease that's a little frightening, she's the kind of girl that would easily be Queen of the School if she gave a fuck. Dangerously beautiful and smarter than even Rhys, this Femme Fatale is not to be trifled with.
Aiden Clearross
- Vanessa's walking dildo. They have an understanding and Aiden's too whipped to say otherwise. Rhys would complain, but he can admit that the guy's fit enough when not talking. He's a stickler for rules and latches onto Roman quickly.
Words From Your Author
Hi. Ad here. So as you can see this is a new story. Now before you continue, I'd just like to say a few things. I feel like for those who are just finding me and don't know my style, well first I want to say 'Thank You' for even stopping by. And now for the disclaimers
1) If you're under 16... Don't read this. I don't need to scar any thirteen year olds. There will be themes in here that most parents probably wouldn't approve of ie. language, sexual content (non explicit of course) and violence.
2) I really don't feel like I need to say this but I'd rather say it now then deal with a bunch of people asking about it later:
RHYS IS NOT STRAIGHT AND THIS IS NOT A BXB STORY!!!!
I write stories with LGBT leads cause I want to and because I want to see more mainstream fiction with leads that fall somewhere on that spectrum. I also mostly write people closer to the bi end of things. This is the only place where you'll see me explicitly state sexualities. So if you ask in the work your comment will be ignored.
Disclaimer B: To be fair though this story will probably ride the line between being queer lit and mainstream though, considering the idea that spawned it.
Disclaimer C: MUMBLE is much better if you want less dick touching and more psychological mind fuckery. Just saying.
3) The point I've been waiting for. This is a Magical story. Or well pseudo magical, considering Bending is a very limited and specific sort of "magic". But anyway with that being said this is ALSO a murder-boyfriends or I guess more accurately a murder-I-barely-tolerate-you-but-we-fucked-and-you-helped-me-hide-the-body story. So yeah. The relationship ain't gonna be healthy in the slightest. So don't come here looking for romance to swoon over. That ain't this. Probably.
Anyway if this still sounds like your cup of tea go forward.
