Chapter 1 - The daughter

Jamie

The rustling of leaves behind me wasn't gone unnoticed by the men assigned as my body guards for the day but I paid little to none to my surroundings as I focused at the task given to me. I crouch low enough to see what's beneath the bush in front of me in hopes of finding Grey; I just need to find four paws then I can go back to my room safely. "What a sly bitch," I murmur quietly into the afternoon breeze.

The men behind me coughed as if to ask for my undivided attention but as I said I paid little to none attention to my surroundings. I squint my eyes more-and voila! I found him. Grey's paws thudded against the soil quietly as if in the process of tiptoeing. When he was a meter or two away behind the bush I quickly shot out from my position to tackle the golden retriever namely Grey behind the said bushes. "You sly thing!" I scolded while patting his head. "You ran out the back door the moment you saw Helga open it!" The dog only barked in enthusiasm as he licked my face, his snout inches away from my nose. "Come on, play time is over. I have homework you know."

I stood up, dusting my pants from any dirt when Grey stuck his nose up my ass. "Hey!" I slap his snout softly and he sneezed at the sudden contact of my hand onto his nose. "Pervert," The men once again coughed to gain my attention and this time they were successful. "What?" I ask them while pursing my lips with an eyebrow raised.

The man in front of me, Rome, scratched the back of his neck. Both his and Hans eyes were downcast. "It seems that you are bleeding, miss." He coughed out while reaching for something from Hans hands. "Uhh, here, take the jacket and tie it around your waste. The red patch on your behind is too vivid." he explained.

The embarrassment I am feeling right now could not compare to the day I slipped on a banana peel inside a mall-it was a banana peel! It was so embarrassing since it only happened last year. "Oh-?" I shut my eyes tight in frustration. So that's why I snapped at everyone this morning, the red flag was raised.

I took the jacket begrudgingly as I tie it on my waist to hide the red patch on my jean short. I rolled my eyes at myself as I walk past the two men, and I even heard Hans chuckle at my actions. The audacity! "Come, Grey." I called out with a strain on my voice.

Pathetic.

Once inside the pack house, Helga sniffed the air in wonder as she turn her attention towards me, "Are you hurt, my dear? It seems the smell of blood is coming directly from you."

I laughed awkwardly as I shift my weight. "Red flag, Helga." I announced as Grey strutted past my slouched form. This is what I hate about being the only human in the house. Everyone can smell my period! I love being human and all but this is the time wherein I wish to be a werewolf. She-wolves don't bleed every month! They only bleed every full moon (the time when they need to mate to bear pups).

"Oh dear!" Helga clamped her mouth shut to keep from laughing.

"Laugh all you want, Helga." I grimly replied.

"Sorry deary! It must be awful, I heard that humans get excruciating cramps whenever they have their period on. Do you want me to make you a hot chocolate?" What a way to make up for laughing at me.

"With melted marshmallows on top please," I plead with a sigh. "Please excuse me, I have to change." I walk past her stature with a frown and before I finally disappear I called out to her once again. "Please give everyone a head start."

As I ascend the staircase I bumped into my father. "Hey Jamie heard the red flag is up, how are you coping?" He asks with a cheeky smile obviously mocking me.
