Misaki's POV
"Misaki-chan! Come over here! You as well Takahiro!" My mom calls my name. Takahiro and I removed ourselves from the swings after I asked him to push me one more time.
"One more push Nii-chan!" I was only seven years old and my brother was eighteen.
I swear he acts like a child. I smile a little at myself realizing about how I am the luckiest boy out there. My life could never be any better. My parents...my brother...mean so much to me. As I walked over to where my parents were sitting, my mother handed me a sandwich.
"Hai! Douzou! Misaki-chan!" I smiled at the sandwich and happily nibbled on it. My dad was looking at me as I gulped down that sandwich. He gently ruffled my hair and reached over to Takahiro to ruffle his hair.
"You boys are getting taller and older! Takahiro is already eighteen and Misaki will be turning eight!" My dad was smiling as he said so.
Just ten more years when I can become a great adult just like Nii-chan!
"That reminds me...Misaki-chan! What would you like for your birthday?" My mom asks as I began to think.
What DO I want? Well...to be honest, there is nothing I want more than to spend time with my family!
My mom and brother smile at me with tears in their eyes. "That's so beautiful Misaki!" I guess they heard my thoughts or something. My mom and brother are exactly the same. I see where my brother got his emotions from.
My dad looks at me and smiles. "I would like that as well because you mean a lot to me as well. Misaki, you are the most selfless little boy I ever met. Boys your age would want to buy out all the toys in the store. You would be someone great in life and I am proud of you for that." He ruffled my hair and we all did a family hug.
I was the happiest boy alive.
----------------------------------------------Two weeks have flown by so fast and it was already August. It completely slipped my mind that my birthday was today.
"Happy birthday Misaki!" I jumped up as they were all hovering over my bed with such big smiles. They took me into the kitchen with my brother's hands over my emerald eyes. Once my eyes were released, I was exposed to a beautiful, lit cake sitting patiently on the table.
I smiled with joy and hugged my family. "Arigatou!"I ran to the cake as fast as I could.
It looks delicious! I wonder if it is chocolate?
As I blew out the candles, my mom, dad, and brother were cheering and clapping. I finally turned eight. This is great! I felt so happy seeing faces with so much cheer."I made sure to buy a chocolate cake for you! I know how much you like chocolate, so I knew this would be the perfect opportunity to have you eat some!" Takahiro said.
My Nii-chan is so great! I honestly would love to be carefree and cheerful just like him.
"Here you go Misaki-chan!" I was handed a present tightly wrapped in emerald green paper. It was so beautiful. The way the paper shown a reflection of me on it.
"We chose green to match your eye color. You always had the most gorgeous eyes in this family. You were always so cheerful and happy that green was your perfect color. We hope you like your present." My mom then pushes the box in front of me. They all huddled closer to me to see me unwrap.
Although I did not ask for anything, I'm still curious as to what's inside this box.
I opened the present carefully as to not damage the wrapping and was revealed four tickets to the amusement park.
My eyes were astonished as I saw the four golden tickets catching my eyes. Worried thoughts filled my head.
These look expensive. Why did they do this? I've never been but its because of how expensive the rides were and the ticket costs were high and...
A hand was softly ruffling my hair as stare up to see them smiling down at me. They looked so happy but why does one be happy when giving someone such an expensive gift? Shouldn't it be the receiver getting happy?
"Do not worry about it Misaki-chan! We all contributed this to take you somewhere you wished you were able to go to." My mom tells me. "Yeah. Although they were expensive, it was the thought that counted. Seeing you happy was a present we all selfishly took." Takahiro says. "Misaki! We love you and we went ahead and got you these tickets to spend your birthday all day at the amusement park. We hope you love our present."
As soon as we filled up on this delicious chocolate cake, we headed out to the amusement park to spend the whole day there.
"Which ride would you like to go on first?" I was so excited I wanted to ride all the rides. I couldn't contain myself, I pointed to the tallest ride in the park.
"That one. Can we go on that one?" My family then glare at me with fear in their eyes. Their afraid of heights. Maybe that was a bad decision.
My brother spoke up for everyone saying "sure we can!" I could tell he was terrified as well.
"We don't have to if you don't want to. It's completely up to you guys!" I exclaimed. They all look at me and smiled. "We can go there. You need an adult to ride with you anyways, so might as well go!"
This is so much fun. I never heard my brother have such a shrill and girly scream.
After we rode all the rides, I was exhausted. I slowly drifted into darkness as we arrived to the car. My parents placed me softly on the car seat. As I sat there, I told them "Thank you. I love you guys..." and was slowly overwhelmed by darkness.
