Here I am ambling down the silent corridors. There’s something so weird about the word “silent” I use it do describe my surroundings when there rarely is silence. There is always something making noise, stopping me from being at peace, whether it’s the buzz of the lights; the muffled sounds of teachers shouting at the classroom delinquents; the idiotic giggles of the girls who “think” they’re beautiful or the haunting whispers of past memories that keep me awake at night. The truth is people say that silence is golden but for me it’s impossible.

Bump! I blink out of my haze to find myself on the floor staring at someone jean-clad legs. Slowly, I raise my eyes scanning the boys profile as I go along. He is not bad not bad at all: long legs, broad chest, defined muscles not to mention the gloriously tanned skin and the sparkling eyes…. Wait! Sparking eyes! I whip my head up and look at his face he’s glaring at me just like he was in the playground. Its official I just pissed off the badboy and I have a feeling its means I’m in deep shit and of course me being the idiot I am does nothing but stare up at him from the floor.

“Listen sweetheart I know I’m a sexy guy but falling at my feet is stupid when I would rather you fall into my bed.” said Dan smirking. What a freaking arsehole! How dare he! I jumped to my feet ready to give him hell when the head teacher’s voice stopped me-

“You two! Why are you not in classes? My office now!” he bellowed.

I very obediently scurried into his office and huddled in the corner seat too afraid to make a noise. I should’ve known brave Helena wouldn’t last very long. From my seat I could hear the heated argument between Dan and the head. It did not sound good after about fifteen minutes of raised voices a very flustered head teacher entered the office with a moody Dan following close behind him.

Once again Dan was glaring at me, only this time he looked even madder, mad as in a bull seeing red type of mad. Actually, with his flared nostrils and tense muscles he did resemble a bull. Bulls are actually quite interesting animals as-

“It would be nice of you to pay attention when I’m talking to you. Im sorry but I don’t know your name; you’re not one of my usual skivers.” the head asked.

“It’s Helena, sir. Helena Jacobs. I wasn’t skiving I swear! I spaced out in Mr Peterson’s class and then I didn’t understand the lesson… He was just picking on me today. I honestly didn’t mean to be rude and I wasn’t skiving I just had a bad morning and I didn’t know what to do and then I bumped into Dan in the corridor and then-“

The head teacher peered down at me whilst sighing really loudly. “Miss Jacobs” he began “I simply asked for your name. Your teacher called me to check whether or not you got to my office and when you didn’t I left to go find you. I was actually shocked to see you flirting with this boy-“ he said nodding towards Dan “instead of coming to find me like a good student would. I actually checked you up on the school database and your record was squeaky clean! Which was exactly why I was so shocked.”

Before I could say anything he turned to Dan and started listing off an incredibly long list of Dan’s “terrible actions” as he like to put it. When he was done he gave us both two weeks detention! Two entire weeks cleaning out the old music storeroom! This was so not fair!

As I ducked out of the office a hand tugged my forearm backwards until I hit a tiled wall. I looked up to find Dan glaring down at me with a murderous look in his eyes. I gulped, suddenly feeling very scared for my life. I have overheard quite a lot of rumours about this boy and even though I make it a rule not to prejudge people the venomous look in his eyes was making it really difficult not to believe them.

“Listen sweetheart, I’m not going to get detention because of you! You are going to go all by yourself and do the work for the both of us because I have a life and am not going to waste it cleaning up some old crap that nobody wants! Do you hear me Helena!“ he whispered close to my ear.

“Look Dan, I understand y-you don’t want detention but I r-really don’t see how this is my fault. I also don’t think it’s fair to make me do all the w-work.”

“You bumped into me. You fell to the ground. You slowed me down for actually escaping school for a while and it was YOU the head came searching for. It your fault and it’s your job to be a good girl and clean up the music room.” He explained talking down to me as if I were a child.

He then sauntered of down the hallway send a wink my way before he once again slammed the door announcing his departure. Dan 1 Helena -0
