Footsteps. Creaking stairs. Then silence.
Not another sound was made. You would've looked around in fear, except the problem was that there was no light.
Just darkness.
Emptiness.
You shivered as you rubbed your arms, slight goosebumps forming.
You didn't know where you were, or why you were there.
You didn't know if anyone else was with you.
Suddenly, there was a scream and several loud thuds. You flinched, your eyes widening in terror. You shouldn't be here. You needed to get away. But...how? The screaming was cut off suddenly by another cry, but this one of hatred. Then nothing.
Darkness.
Emptiness.
Silence.
You decided you weren't going to be like those stupid people in horror movies, calling out and asking if anyone was there. You already knew someone was there...someone you didn't want to meet.
The sound of a door opening, the hinges creaking. Your head snapped towards the sound, still trying to remain silent. Where was your wand? Had you left it at home or something? Suddenly, there was light. You could see the door. You were in a room, and there was a crib near the corner. You slowly inched towards it, curious.
"Lily Potter," a raspy, snakelike voice that gave you chills and made you stop in your tracks chuckled, "Your husband is dead now. James Potter is dead!"
You shuddered at the sense of victory in his tone. Why should he be happy about something like this?
A woman with red hair and green eyes filled with tears rushed forward. "No!" she screeched, her voice filled with raw pain.
The man chuckled darkly as he stepped into view. You stiffled a yelp of horror as you took in his appearance. His eyes were a bright red, seemingly more frightening as he grinned cruelly. His face was a pale white, and it seemed he had no hair anywhere. He also had no nose, only tiny slits in its place. You placed a hand over your mouth, suddenly feeling very sick.
"Yes, I killed him," the man hissed, an amused look playing on his face, "But I can spare you..."
He took a step towards the crib. The woman called Lily Potter ran towards the crib quickly, throwing herself in front of it.
"No, not my Harry!" she cried, waving her arms frantically, "Please, take me instead!"
"Move!" the man yelled, raising his wand.
But the woman did not care.
"Not my Harry, please not my Harry," she continued to beg, her eyes hardening. You began to wonder why...until you realized it was courage.
"I'll kill you both then!" the man roared, his eyes flashing dangerously.
"Not my Harry..." Lily whispered, her arms still spread out, still standing in front of the crib.
Something seemed to snap inside the man.
"AVADA KEDAVRA!" he yelled, pointing his wand at Lily Potter, his eyes holding a psychotic look.
She screamed as the green light shot towards her, yet she still held her ground. You closed your eyes as you heard a thump, the sound of a body hitting the floor. You were shaking and you stuggled to keep a few tears from falling. How could anyone do something like this? You opened your eyes slowly, though they were admittedly a little wet.
The man let out a short, cruel laugh as he stepped over the unmoving body of Lily Potter. He peered into the crib, sneering.
"Harry Potter..." he whispered.
...Harry Potter? Wait, Harry? This was his house? Was Lily his mother, then? Was this the man everyone kept on talking about? He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named?
"AVADA KEDAVRA!" the man bellowed, laughing maniacally.
"NO!" you yelled, speaking for the first time.
However, you could not move; your feet were frozen. You screamed as you tried to run to Harry, but to no avail. Then the man was gone, after a strange yell of pain, and baby Harry began to cry. Soon, the crib faded and you were left alone.
Darkness.
Emptiness.
Silence.
