Chapter 21: Avery's p.o.v

The breeze in the room flushes my cheeks, sending tingles through my spine, making me hike my blanket up over my head.

"Cupcake, wake up" the voice lingers in my head, wishing it were a dream. But I can hear the hot breaths linger around my ears, telling me I am in fact not alone. But the voice sounds to firmiliar. Not comforting, but eary and tense.

"I know you can hear me Avery. Wake up" Slowly I lift the covers over my face, revealing a sight that could kill me inside.

"What are you doing here? Get out of my room or I'll scream."

"Oh but cupcake, you will do no such thing. You know I have the power to do things. And i will do the worst, if you don't listen."

"What do you want ross" I ask in a icy tone. "Your suppost to be in jail"

" those guards arnt as smart as you think." He says taking a step closer. "I made a new friend in jail. He's older, he's done worse things then I have cupcake."

"What does this have to do with me ross"? I ask suspiciously

"Well you see my darling, this man so happens to be your father. And he's just as twisted as he was when he killed your sweet lilly."

"Dont you dare bring her into this." I wisper in a harsh tone.

"Listening to me. Your not going to tell anyone about this encounter. One thing is for sure, that he will be leaving that hell hole, and when he does, he wants the other daughter for himself." Im left speechless as words can't describe how I feel. Because I feel nothing. My heart is empty for that man and if one things for sure I won't let him have me.

"If your done here I'd like to get some sleep. I have school tomorrow."

But the thing is, I couldent sleep. What if he does come back? Will he kill me too? And the worst part is I can't tell anyone. I don't want them getting hurt because of me.

The next morning came slow, and every minute felt like an hour. Now, I'm approaching the school, only to find myself stopped by Tessa. "Avery" She calls.

"Your never at practice, heck you missed a game last week. Your not at all a true member of this team. Go change and I want your uniform by lunch. Your a disgrace." She spits and walks away. I'm kicked off the team?! I know it's been my last priority lately but I felt like a somebody...

What about Raya? Shes on the team and she has to stay with them. Soon Enouph she will be gone to. Why does everyone get taken away? No. If she's a true friend she will still make time for me right?"

After changing out of my uniform from the girls bathroom, I face the mirror looking at my reflection. My black skinny jeans and my band-T. Regular old me. Grey will probably go find someone else with more of a status then me. I mean come on  he has to hold his popularity some how. I let my long locks out of my pony, and realize that the only part of me that was different was that I still had my makeup on my face, keeping some sence of pride in me.

I walk out of the restroom and head to my locker to grab my things I need for my first class.

"Uhm, excuse me? Sorry do you know where room 204 literature is?" I turn around and am faced with a girl about my height, with light coffee bean hair, ever so slightly tanned skin, and piercing eyes.

"Yeah, that's my first class actually" I say "Nice choice" I say pointing to her twenty one pilots hoodie.

"Thanks. There like one of my favorite bands."  There's something that catches my eye. I'm not sure what, but she reminds me of someone. The hair, the music, it's like I've met her before, but not actually her.

We make our way to room 204, and in the back of my head, I can't get Ross's words out of my head.

It replays in my head, over and over. Why can't I just live my life like a normal teenager? I just want to be happy.

"Hey Av's" I snap out of it and lift my gaze to see Grey.  He gives my a kiss on the temple before looking at.. well I don't know her name. "Who's your friend?" He asks.

"I um actually don't know. We just met. What is your name?" I ask her.

"My names lily. And I'm guessing by your nickname your Avery?"

Lily...

Lilly...

Lily...

The name repeats in my head and i just picture my sister standing in front of me. But no. It's a total different person. "Avery. Avery?"

I look over to Grey snapping his fingers. "Come on, we're going to be late for class." I just nodded my head and and walk down the hall.

Half way through the class, the teacher is pulled out of the room. "So" I turn to lily. "Tell me about yourself"

" Well, I really like music. I play the ukulele" She thinks " I have a little brother and sister, I love chocolate... like alot!" She lauphes. "My favorite band is twenty one pilots. Oh did I mention I like chocolate?"
