Rae’s POV
I dont know what i thought the first day of school was supposed to be like, but i am pretty sure it wasn’t supposed to be like this. I’m not it was bad or awful, but it sure as hell was interesting…
“Hey Mama’s!” Tay’s cheerful voice chirped through the phone.
“Hey Lady, can you pick me up?
“Sure thing. Where’s Sam?”
“Said he had practice.”
“That’s odd Mama’s, see a in a few!”
She hung up. That’s how our conversations normally go, fast and oh so serious. I smiled to myself and finished getting ready. It was odd. Sam doesn’t normally have practice in the morning. I frowned.
“Josh i’m getting a ride with Tay.” I said through a closed door on my way to the porch. I got no response so i didn’t bother to even pause. Tay was here when I made it outside, her bright red lipstick stained the window.
“Hey babe!” She yelled waving. “Hop in!”
To anyone around us it must have seemed like we hadn’t seen each other in months. I climbed in on the passenger side. Her radio sent the bass shivering through my entire body.
“So what’s the plan?”
“I was thinking we’d come in late, rape zack and go to class!” She giggled. Zack was her boyfriend, they were probably the cutest couple ever. Silence blanketed the car in a wave as she pulled up to the school. It was our first day as sophomore’s, no one knew what to expect, or what to think.
I grabbed her arm enthusiastically and looped my arm into it, we picked up our schedules in homeroom and left without any explanation.
“Zack!” Tay said loudly, waving and jutting her hip out to the side.
“Hey Tay.” He said looking exhausted. “Hey Rae” He laughed at the look on my face,
I frowned. “Where’s Sam?”
“I dunno.” He said checking his phone. “I haven’t seen him at all this morning.”
“Really?” I asked all puzzled. “He said y’all had practice this morning, and that’s why he couldn’t pick me up.”
“Oh.” He dialed something. “Sam, where the fuck are you?”
I looked away. Why did it matter? He was always ditching me with his lame ass excuses. I’m so sick of it.
“He says he is in homeroom waiting for you.” He said holding his hand over the speaker.
“We were just there!” Spoke up Tay, seeing the anger in my eyes.
“Dude, stop bullshiting.” Zack said getting mad.
“Look, leave it alone. Fuck him.” I said grabbing Zack’s phone and hanging up before handing it back to him.
“Come on lets go.” Tay said grabbing my arm and kissing Zack’s cheek.
“What class do we have?” I asked sighing. The cafeteria was packed, i have no idea how they are going to get everyone to fit during lunch.

I took a second and looked at my schedule. The day went by fast, even lunch was such a blur. It was nice to see some people again, especially if we weren’t close enough to hang out over the summer.
P.E. was the one class i wasn’t looking forward to, plenty of time to embarrass myself throughout the day, i didn’t need P.E. to help me out any with that.
“Rae!” Jess gushed from beside me.
“What?” I asked worried by her excited demeanor.
“The New P.E. teacher is so hot!” She said giggling like a young girl. I sighed and kept walking. Sam… Why did i care if he talked to me or not?
In all my thinking a voice came from behind me, yanking me out of my reverie. “Hello.”
I turned around, to see the most gorgeous man i’d ever seen. I blinked a couple times taken aback by his appearance.
“Uh, Hi.” I stuttered. My face turned red, i felt like an idiot.
“I’m Chris Baron. The new P.E. teacher.” Wow, i did feel like an idiot.
“Oh. Sorry, hi! I’m Rae Moon, i’m a sophomore.”
“Nice to meet you.” We shook hands, sending sudden shivers up my spine, before i rushed off to the locker room flustered. I should have listened to Jess. The other girls were gushing about him as well.
“I can’t wait for him to introduce himself!” One girl said loudly.
“You mean he hasn’t yet?” I asked puzzled. He introduced himself to me, and nobody else?
“No, he just shot hoops when we walked by.” Another said sounding vaguely disappointed.
I smiled to myself smugly. My phone buzzed. I looked at it, knowing it was from Sam before i read it.
Hey Baby, I’m Sorry.
Nope. I deleted the message and threw my phone in my bag. I have more important things to worry about right now! I changed into my typical short running shorts and one of my Cheerleading shirts. When i came out, all the girls were gathered around Mr. Baron. I fell into the crowd as he tried to take role with them all asking questions.
“Are you married?”
“No.”
“Do you have a girlfriend??” Another asked.
“Nope.”
“How old are you?”
“Twenty.” He said as he saw me. He winked. I smiled back, happy that i was his favorite so far.
“Okay Ladies, i want you all to form two teams and play a game of basketball.” He said, and left it at that, expecting us to get everything together. He took a basketball and started shooting some side hoops, i grabbed a ball and shot a three, and i thought i died as i made the shot.
“You like basketball?” He asked coming up behind me again.
“Yes, I’m just awful at it!” I smiled.
“Would you like to stay after school and play?” He asked shooting a three.
“Sure!” I said beaming
“Just don’t…” He motioned to the girls “Tell them.”
“Gotcha!” I said before he was surrounded by the girls as the class ended.
I grabbed my bags and texted Tay, telling her to pick me up a few minutes, I took my time in doing this waiting for the rest of the class to leave.
