Gold

For a while we lived like thieves,
Then we ate just like kings,
We took all their gold,
We took all their gold.

For a moment I believed myself,
We weren't starving, dying, or hurting ourselves,
We had taken all their gold,
We had taken all their gold.

That moment passed and I looked around,
Dying, starving, burning in hell,
We didn't take any gold,
We didn't take any gold.

I die alone,
I was afraid of this,
Poverty stricken, sick, and twisted,
Loved and lost they say at times,
But what the don't realize is how much it hurts, how much it stings,
To be a afraid of love, of all things.

No gold at all,
No gold for me.

Just the way it has to be.
