Star was standing on the edge of the bleachers, staring at the soccer field. Marco was coming on for the potential game winning goal in the shootout of the state soccer championship. The entire crowd of students and others was on its feet, yelling. Star clutched Marcos hoodie, which he'd left with her, to her chest. She was wearing a white jersey with "DIAZ 31" on it in red letters. Star was hoping and praying that Marco won it all for them, right now. As he came on for the shot, he pointed across the field at her and mouthed, "For you" , promoting blushing from Star and whistles from the Echo Creek crowd. Star had a pretty massive crush on Marco, but didn't want to mess anything up. But what did the point mean? Did he like her back? The yells of the crowd became louder, drawing Star back to reality. Marco walked up to the ball, stepped back, and breathed in. "I hope I make it" he thought dumbly to himself, embarrassed at his own private thoughts. He looked at the goalie, hoping his eyes betrayed nothing of his elaborate plan: the Rabona kick. It was a risky maneuver that involved wrapping his right leg around his left and kicking it, in order to fake out the goalie. Several pro sports players have attempted this kick, either resulting in shame* or sheer glory. He looked back at the ref, and he heard the whistle. Time seemed to slow. He ran towards the ball, preparing to kick. Star was jumping up and down clutching the hoodie to her face, eyes wide in anticipation. Marco got to the ball and planted his left foot and turned his hips left. The goalie moved left, preparing to dive. Marco had him fooled, all he had to do was hit the ball. At the last possible second, he shifted right and wrapped his foot around the other and kicked. The goalie flew left, a look of shock and horror as the ball didn't. Marcos, Stars, and everyones eyes widened and mouths flew open as the ball zipped to the right post. It was almost there and then: it bounced off, flew left, and went in. It was like a bomb went off. The echo creek players sprinted on the the field, screaming. So did the Echo Creek fans. Star ran to Marco, holding the hoodie like a victory flag. Marco ran around in front of the goal, hands up, screaming for joy. He looked as his players reached each other and him, and they began laughing, yelling, crying, jumping, doing anything they could to express the glory of victory. Soon the spectators joined in. Marco ran to the edge of the crowd, full of adrenaline, looking for Star. They saw each other and ran forward. Star reached to fling her arms around Marco, as he did the same, they met, and Marcos hand went to her head and pulled her into a deep, passion filled kiss. She was shocked, but kissed back. They pulled away, blushing furiously. No one noticed them, or if they did, they didn't care. Star suddenly leapt up so that her legs wrapped around his waist and he held her up as she threw her arms around him and kissed him agains. He kissed back. After ages they pulled away, and Marco put Star on his shoulders, Star still waving the hoodie around in the air. Laughing with joy and love, they ran back into the crowd to celebrate.
