song on the side is the song i listened to through out me typing this chapter~
Rose’s POV
My foot kept shaking up and down in annoyance. My thoughts kept creeping back to a certain couple, distracting me from looking at the hot football players practice. I chewed my gum while I thought back on Jonathan in his middle school years being a football player and what resulted of it.
////Flashback////
“You’re going to try out for the football team?” I asked Jonathan who was in a football uniform.
“Yeah, I am. Is that bad? Do you think I’ll make it in?” Jonathan asked rather shyly. The way he acted was cute in its own way even if he was rather tall. I smiled at the thought but then I shook my head. I shouldn’t be thinking about him like this! I can’t possibly be with him! We’re friends and he told me he already liked someone.
“W-what? You think I won’t make it?...” he replied softly, looking at me sadly.
“No! That’s not it. I was thinking of something else and besides why wouldn’t you make it? You’re tall and strong! You will surely be in it!” I smile brightly at him. I truly believe he would make it. His body structure wasn’t exactly how most football players are but it’s pretty close.
I saw him slightly blush. “Thanks Rose!” he hugged me after saying that and then left to go try out. I smiled as I saw his retreating back. After that I didn’t hear from him until the next day.
“Rose! Rose! I made it in!!! I made it in!!” he basically tackled me to the floor when he told me.
“That’s great Jonathan! I’m happy for you” I gave him one of my smiles before he got off of me.
“ I have practice later after school. Mind watching me play?” he asked pleadingly.
“Sure” I tell him. Soon the bell rang and we made it back to class. The day seemed to have gone by pretty quick and soon I found myself sitting on the bleachers watching Jonathan play. I looked around to see who else was here and I noticed this strange boy. ‘He’s probably new since I’m pretty sure I would’ve noticed someone with that hair color’ I thought to myself as I kept looking at him. The odd boy seemed to be entranced by something. I followed his gaze and saw Jonathan. Why was this new kid staring at Jonathan? I felt slightly jealous that maybe this new kid might possibly like Jonathan. But he couldn’t be right? He’s a guy and Jonathan’s a guy. It’s not physically possible in a sense. I decided to walk over to this new kid and sit next to him. He looked at me but then went back to looking at the game.
“What do you want?” I heard him say with slight coldness in his voice. I slightly flinched at it but regained my composure.
“I was wondering if you’re new here. I’ve never seen you before.” I tell him slowly, looking at him still. I saw his hands clench slightly but then he let go.
“Yeah I came here today.” He said simply, still looking at Jonathan.
“My name’s Rose. What’s yours?” I asked him.
“Kyle”, was his only response. Afterwards we didn’t talk at all. I went back looking at Jonathan play. Soon practice ended and Jonathan started walking towards me. I looked at the corner of my eye at Kyle and noticed a very faint blush on his face. As soon as Jonathan arrived, the blush had already faded and he stood up to walk away.
“Wait! Kyle, why don’t you stay with us for a bit?” I hastily asked him, grabbing onto his wrist. He looked at me, surprised. I was also surprised at myself for wanting him to say. Maybe it’s because I wanted to know if he was attracted to Jonathan? Maybe.
