I sighed as I got up from my bed. One of the not so good things about this job is definitely having to wake up early. I go to my closet and grab my black pencil skirt, some white heels and a light blue button up. I tuck my shirt into the skirt and leave a few of the top buttons undone. I chose to leave my hair out and did some light makeup and threw a pair of large gold hoops to add some spice.
Before I got into my car to drive to work I made myself some coffee and some toast for brekkie.I would make Lani some too but by the time she wakes up, it would be cold.
I park my car in the car park and confidently strut my way into the building. Without warning, I bump into a firm chest.
"I am so sorry, I wasn't even looking where I was going," I say with a sorry look set on my face. Only my second day working here and I'm already making a fool out of myself.
"Its alright," The man I bumped into chuckles, "I haven't seen you around, are you new?" He asks. I meet his cocoa eyes. He had this classy look with what he wore and this classy-messy hair that he could somehow pull off.
"Yeah- My second day actually," I nervously chuckle, putting a piece of my hair behind my hair.
"You'll adjust to it soon then it won't be as bad as you seem. Good luck!" He says whilst smirking then walking away before I even get a chance to say anything else. He made my job seem really bad. I snap back into reality and head over to my desk where I found Shawn next to it, at his desk, harshly typing at his keyboard.
"Good morning!" I say optimistically, only to get a grunt as a response. Okay then. I decide to ignore it while I get all my work set up.
A few hours into work, I start to feel a bit hungry and thirsty so I decide to go to the office kitchen to make myself some coffee and get myself a muesli bar, but before I leave to get it ask I ask Shawn If would like anything.
"Coffee, make it a cappuccino," He replies bluntly. Talk about rude, not even a please or thank you.
Once I make it to the kitchen, I find the guy that I bumped into earlier. A rush of heat makes its way to my face as I remember the embarrassing moment. We make brief eye contact and then he smirks devilishly.
"Hey Miss I-don't-watch-where-I'm-walking," He chuckles softly.
"My name is actually Venus Mayfair, but you were close enough," I state
"What an interesting name. Well my name is Finn Caris," Finn grabs his coffee and walks over to where I'm standing and places it nest to me while looking down at me.
"And I would love for you to join me lunch tomorrow," I blush as he gives a genuine smile. He hands me a slip of paper with his number carelessly written on it, "let me know by tonight." He says before walking off with his coffee. I wonder what Lani would say about all this. ___
"Honey! I'm home!" I yell as they do in cheesy movies. Lani runs out from her bedroom with her hair running wild and in a pair of grey sweats and a black sports bra, and throws her arms around me, engulfing me in a tight hug.
"How was work?"
"Uhh tiring but I met someone new!" I cheer. Lani's face immediately lights up.
"Spill all the deets now bitch," she glares at me jokingly.
And so we spoke about Finn Caris for practically half the night then I soon decided I had to sleep as I did have to go to work again tomorrow.
