“He’s beautiful,” Mrs. Jonas said as she placed her grandson back into Jane’s arms.

“I know right?” Jane asked with a smile as she rocked her son in her arms.

“Have you decided on a name?” Danielle Jonas asked from her seat next to Kevin.

“Nathaniel Adam Jonas,” Joe said as he perched next to his wife on her hospital bed. “I can’t believe that I’m a dad.”

“Or that I’m a mom,” Jane said. “Joe, did you call Kelli?”

“Yes. She said she would call you later to get all the details on little Nate.” Jane peered around the hospital room where Joe’s family sat smiling.

“What about Nick?”

“I called him when you went into labor,” Kevin supplied from where he sat. “I know you were in labor for 12 hours [AN: My manager at work was in labor for 26 hours…poor girl], but chances are it’s going to take him a little bit to get here. He is performing halfway across the country.”

“Nick promised he’d be here,” Jane said with a sad face.

“Honey, I know Nick is one of your best friends, but you need to relax. He’ll get here eventually,” Joe said kissing her on her head. The door to her hospital room banged open as Nick walked in. “Or right now.”

“Nicky!” Jane called out happily. “Come meet your nephew!” The rest of Joe’s family got up and moved towards the door. They were headed to the cafeteria to get something to eat. Nick stepped forward and smiled down at the baby. “His name is Nathaniel Adam Jonas. Want to hold him?”

“Of course,” Nick said taking the baby from her arms. “Hey there little Nate. I’m your Uncle Nick. Thank goodness you look like your mother and not your dad.”

“Hey,” Joe shouted in annoyance at his little brother. Nick sat down in a chair next to Jane’s bed as he held his nephew. Jane and Joe had been married for nearly two years now. Nate was their first child and Nick’s very first nephew. Even Danielle and Kevin hadn’t managed to have a kid yet.

“Be nice to Joe, Nicky,” Jane said with a giggle. Nick smiled over at her as she brushed her long chestnut curls back from her face. Her brown eyes sparkled, and she had a glow about her even after giving birth to her son. Joe was very lucky to have met her. Sometimes Nick wondered if his life would have been different if he was the one who had ended up with Jane. But he was content with being best friends with her instead.

“Sometimes, I still can’t figure out why you married my brother, let alone procreated with him,” Nick said with a smirk.
