My palms were sweaty as I bounced into my old wooden bed and almost banged my head on the bumpy wallpaper . It had been ten days since my sixteenth birthday and I still haven't found my quko. At first I understood that it may have taken time but now that it has been ten days I have to act.

I picked up a book labelled "The times of zentirious " and read the first paragraph for the hundredths time, it goes a little something like this: "In the ancient times of zentirious the world was overrun by creatures of the dark that couldn't be defeated by humans alone so the great ruler Gimous made a pact with the goddess Artemis to grant Gimous' finest soldiers with the power of the different animals. The animals would be in the form of spirits and they would guide them through their journey of war. Because of this the humans won the war and all peace was restored. As years went by the descended families of the warriors were gifted their own qukos and were trained to defend the world from threats." It reminded me of how lucky my family was to be the very the few descendants of the warriors. When a descendent turns sixteen on their birthday then are granted they're quko , you know a person has found their quko because they have a tattoo on their arm representing their animal.

I sat bolt upright as my sister walked into the room carrying  a tray of bacon and eggs,"Hey Luke, breakfast is ready also mums wants you to come downstairs when your finished ,she has something important to tell you." I took the tray, my appetite had gone, all I was thinking about was why I had not been gifted with my quko , my sister left the room silently leaving me alone to think. I took a few bites out if the bacon and placed the tray at the end of my bed. I began to think about what my mum wanted to tell me , ever since our dad past away she has been having it rough and me not getting my quko at sixteen just adds onto that , that's one of the reasons I've been avoiding her.

I took a deep breath in and grabbed my blue scarf from the end of my bed , for some reason I'm always cold in Zentirius wherever I go so I got this scarf to keep me warm, I began to step down our old creaking stairs down to the living room where my mum sat there quietly looking down at the floor and then up to me....
