Headlights

I was quickly convinced,
You said this was a night to remember,
I took a sip & then another ,
1 turned to 2 & 2 to 4 ,
You handed me the keys ,
Cold metal pressed into my warm palm ,
I turned the ignition on ,
And began to drive,
My head was dizzy ,
My eyes a bit foggy ,
Down the dark highway we went,
Caution was thrown to the wind ,
And I quickly forgot all the lectures in school & all the statistics ,
I stepped on the pedals & forgot to turn ,
Headlights shone all to bright,
I couldn't see & off we went ,
Shredded metal & blood pouring ,
I am sorry ,
I should be listening ,
Instead I was to busy drinking . . .
