As the train rolled to a stop I could hear seagulls and the sound of a diesel locomotive idling over on the next track. I stood slinging my bag over my shoulder. Delia stood in front of me, she was about my height if not taller than me be an inch or two.

She was a vampire, apparently sunlight didn't affect her much, especially here where she explained the temperature was never really warm.

"So where to next?", she led me out of the coach and onto the station platform. The structure was a combination of wood and stone. A fairly sturdy looking structure.

"Well, like I said earlier, I will show you to your accommodations." The platform was sparsely populated with people. Everyone looked fairly normal.

"How do we get there?", we kept walking.

"Well, the next train up there comes in two hours, so it gives me a perfect amount of time to show you the town". The structures near the station were interesting, many had thick walls and huge timber beams, while others were more lightly built. But however interesting the buildings were, they were no match to the inhabitants of this world. Creatures that only existed in legends, were actually alive (or undead) and walking around. I found the whole thing fascinating.

"Any places to get a bite around here?". She laughed a little at my question. Oh yeah, she was a vampire.

"Well, I have a friend who owns a tavern, she's got good grub there, ain't far from here", Delia turned a corner and kept leading me down the cobblestone streets.

"Are there cars here?", she nodded.

"Yes, but very few, most here prefer to use public transport here as we have a very efficient system", we ended up outside a structure that looked somewhat like a pub. It had a tile roof and white walls. It was dimly lit inside, the light coming in from the windows only brightened the room up a little bit.

"When you see her don't say anything dumb". What was she talking about, soon I found out.

A seemingly headless figure walked up to us. I could tell the figure was female, but where was her head? As the figure got closer I could see that her head was secured in her left arm. She was beautiful, short, messy red hair, green eyes, and a white shirt with a green skirt.

"Oh, hey Delia how may I help you today? And I see you've brought a friend along", well, despite initial appearances she was sure a lot less scarier than Delia.

"Just some food and beer, this is John. He's moving here". Delia shot me a look.

"Hey nice to meet you, and you are?", I reached out my hand.

"I'm Aileen, nice to meet you John", she shook my hand with her available arm. She led us to a heavily built wooden table.

"So what beer would you recommend?" When I came to beer I didn't just drink it to drink it. It had to have flavor.

"Personally the Baytown Lager is my favorite, but a lot of others are good". She set the order pad down on the table as she couldn't use both of her hands.

"I'll have some of that then, and do you have anything vegetarian?", Delia scoffed a bit at me, but surely some people in this world had to be vegetarians.

Aileen nodded, "I have a vegetarian sandwich, one of my original recipes". She blushed a little. I thought it was cute.

"I'll have that then", I smiled. She then took Delia's order and headed behind the bar counter. Soon she came back with two mugs and a pitcher.

"I'll be back in a few minutes with your order", she then disappeared through a door.

"I think someone here has a crush on Aileen", Delia sipped on her beer and looked at me.
