Sunlit Waters (Merperson RP)

My characters

Name: Raven Kunnings

Age: 17

Description: Hair blacker than the depths of the water, eyes a shining silver. His body has swirling designs whose glow fluctuates with his emotions, as well as the tips of his back and tail fins, and the circular marks under his eyes. The back of his tail has bumps that glow extremely brightly when he is using his light lure. His skin is very light, almost see through, and his hands have webbing in between the fingers. His tail is blacker than his hair, and almost seems to be made of leathery skin.

Background: He accidentally found his way up out of the depths at a young age. A little awed (and blinded) by the light, he kept going out until he bumped into a young little seahorse, who was fascinated by his light lure and upset that he did not seem to have (or didn't remember) a mother or father. After a little pestering, the little seahorse's parents were convinced to keep the odd boy. He now tends to stay near the seahorses, though he does like dark caves, as the light still does hurt his eyes a bit. 

Any (dis)likes among the other mermaids?: ---Likes: the seahorse tribes and a few choice sharkinds. ---Dislikes: Most shark tribes (sharks are like the Searchers of the sea, here, for those of you who've played in my other RPs)

Extras?:

~His singing is like a siren's-- if you aren't careful, he'll lead you into the depths and eat you

~Likes to makes things out of the bones of small fish

~Isn't really a threat to the other mermaid types-- doesn't really go after anything bigger than him, and he's quite small for his age, and his adoptive family taught him to stray from eating those he could make friends with

~He has no pupils

~Has a brother of sorts who technically forced his parents to adopt Raven. As Sky has the same hatchday as Raven, Raven considers them something like twins

~He took the last name "Kunnings" after his adoptive family

~Likes collecting oddities found at the beach at night or at shipwrecks

~Has unusually sharp teeth

~Can reanimate dead things and often does this to fish

~Can seem to melt into the dark to where you don't notice him, and can seem to reappear farther away using these shadows

~His eyes glow sometimes when he's singing

Name: Sky Kunnings

Age: 17

Gender: Male

H/M/O?: Merperson

Inspired by?: Seahorse

Description: Chocolate brown hair and bright blue eyes that remind others of the sky above the surface. He has a curled tail that is brown like his hair with gold spots. A fin flutters on the back of his tail, where his human-like body ends. He likes to wear crowns of braided metal and things that Raven makes him, and capes that "somehow find their way down to the sea floor". Both of them swear they do not steal these. 

Background: He was brought up by his two parents, and is rather upset about how "uninteresting" his life is "compared to the other merpeople". He wishes he could explore more, but his parents fear for his safety-- only reason Raven gets away is because he somehow manages to slip away when nobody is looking.

Extra:

~His parents are leaders over two tribes

~Occasionally goes up to the surface-- mostly at night, when Raven can go too.

~Isn't as happy as he was as a child (but isn't the gloomy thing some of you know him as)

Name: Tavor "Twilight" Variel

Age: Appears to be somewhere in their twenties

Gender: ...Usually male

H/M/O?: Merperson

Inspired by?: Blacktip shark

Description: Red hair that looks dark as blood, but lights like fire near the surface and has a white streak near the front, amber-colored eyes. Has a beautiful gray tail like a blacktip shark, and some whisper about how odd his "sideways" tail is. He has a dorsal fin along his back, which is as gray as his tail and fades to black at the tip. He usually wears a necklace of a braided band of what might be plastic and shark teeth. His skin is a tanned sort of color naturally, but is usually darker due to the time he likes to spend near the surface. 

Background: Escaped the cruelty of his tribe at a young age, taking his younger sister with him. When the sharks followed and killed his sister, he went into a rage, slaughtering the sharks and the few of his tribe there. He wears the teeth he ripped from the sharks around his neck as a reminder, and lives to hunt down the leader of his tribe, who ordered the attack. 

(Dis)likes among tribes: ---Likes: The Angler boy he's met, who promised not to eat the leader if he finds them, but instead bring them to Twilight. Doesn't mind the other tribes, but mostly stays to himself. ---Dislikes: The other sharkind

Extra:

~Can change his appearance at will, which is useful for when he wants to go to the surface. 

~Likes imitating other's voices

~Doesn't like mentioning his sister, though he does visit where he buried her often

~Lives in a shipwreck

~Likes going up to the surface

~Has a splash of freckles on his nose that he hates, but that his sister liked.

Name: Rose Flare

Age: 16

Gender: Female

H/M/O?: Other

Description: Hair the color of sunrays, mismatched eyes-- one violet, one green. She has relatively fair skin and tends to wear colorful bracelets, necklaces as well as sandals and sunhats for trips to the beach. 

Background: When she was small, she fell into the water at sea, and since then has been afraid of going in water. After being convinced to come to the beach by her older siblings, she met a peculiar boy who she could've sworn had a curled tail when he laid back in the water... Curious, she waits by the rock where she first met him, hoping to get a closer look and never going further into the water without persuasion. 

Extras: 

~Likes to collect small seashells and sand dollars-- has three small pearls in a jar on her necklace that the boy gave to her. She never lets these out of her sight.

~Isn't really afraid of the creatures in the water-- just the water itself.

~Seems human, but due to her magic lineage and specialization in transportation and healing magic, tends to teleport when frightened and likes to spoil anyone who gets hurt (usually her older brother, Luke)

~Fascinated by nature

~Likes to bring her art supplies and paint the sea, especially at sunset

~Tends to stay away from people she doesn't know, unless they approach her. She isn't frightened of strangers, knowing that she can get away if something goes wrong
