Also known as "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress"
Originally i was bored and wanting something zombie related to watch. It didnt need to have plot or much development, just action and zombies. However, when i watched this i couldnt find myself to stop. I binged the series in a day. I wasnt expecting to be so overpowered by the story and characters. I loved the music throughout the entire anime- from opening to ending to the battle music played when they are fighting. The art was so well done and so beautiful and simple, yet so carefully thought up. I fell in love with all of the characters and just wished they fell in love with each other because i had about five or six ships through this whole thing (yes, i am putting this in my review) and i was upset when none of them hooked up (i dont think this is a spoiler when the genre has no romance in it).
The story had me on the edge of my seat so often and i found myself pushed around by the same wave of emotions pulling the characters along. Ikoma, mainly with his emotions. I wish i could marry him.The anime brings a wide cast who i wished had more development in general and showtime, but im not complaining because many of them came a long way.
Series Details:
The world is in the midst of the industrial revolution when horrific creatures emerge from a mysterious virus, ripping through the flesh of humans to sate their never-ending appetite. The only way to kill these beings, known as "Kabane," is by destroying their steel-coated hearts. However, if bitten by one of these monsters, the victim is doomed to a fate worse than death, as the fallen rise once more to join the ranks of their fellow undead.
Only the most fortified of civilizations have survived this turmoil, as is the case with the island of Hinomoto, where mankind has created a massive wall to protect themselves from the endless hordes of Kabane. The only way into these giant fortresses is via heavily-armored trains, which are serviced and built by young men such as Ikoma. Having created a deadly weapon that he believes will easily pierce through the hearts of Kabane, Ikoma eagerly awaits the day when he will be able to fight using his new invention. Little does he know, however, that his chance will come much sooner than he expected...
