Chapter 3
I'm inlove with Disney movies. I believe I've been watching them since I was three or maybe a little bit less than that. But, who's counting? Not me, of course. But seriously, Disney movies were and always will be part of my childhood. Ever since I laid my eyes on Ariel's hair for the first time, I knew I was hooked.
Loving their films means watching them more than a couple of hundred times and still not getting tired of it. Just like Alice in Wonderland. I've watched them both, live action and cartoon, and was currently waiting for the second film before I got into this situation. Books? Not so much. But I believe I've read it twice, both times I didn't finish. Proud to say I made it half way, though.
Both watching and reading is enough for me to recognise the smile he's wearing. A Cheshire cat's wicked grin. I closed my eyes as I felt a light shiver. It's not really the guy, it's actually the cold air.
My eyes fluttered open when I felt a soft touch on my arm. I quickly pulled it away from him."Jax? Are you sure she is who she is supposed to be? Because I'm telling you, I can sense a great force of weakness. It could be that you've got the wrong girl."
Wrong girl? I'm always the wrong girl, aren't I? Never the perfect and also never the right one. Last picked, awkward, lonely and a downright loser. I am most commonly known as that girl.
Weak.
My eyes found his and I quickly threw him a glare that, if possible, could kill him right at this very moment. I wanted to prove him wrong. I am tired of people calling me weak and useless.
I took a good look at him. Tall, sky blue eyes, auburn hair, crooked nose, chiselled jaw. Of course he doesn't look like any real human being and if other girls are with me, I'm quite sure they'll be on their feet, begging for this guy's love.
Then again, I might be a tad bit over reacting about these things.
Suddenly my hand did an unpredictable thing and made it's way to meet his jaw. He stumbled back a little but still managed to regain his composure. "I..." I breathed, "I'm not weak."
He raised both of his hands in mock surrender. "Whoah, calm down, Saf. Weakness and strength isn't just knowing how to punch, you know. And with what you've done, I'm afraid you still aren't proving an point."
I don't think I heard any of his latter words for there's this one that caught me off guard. "Saf?" I narrowed my eyes at him.
"That's your name," he said in as as-a-matter-of-fact voice.
"Obviously," I rolled my eyes. "But how did you-? I don't even know you! You're a stalker, aren't you?"
Any lonely person like I am would be excited. Especially if it's a good-looking guy that's taken interest in them. It would make them curious and such. I'm actually pretty curious, too, but having a stalker is just plain creepy and uncomfortable.
He gave me an outraged look. "Are you kidding me? After saving you from those horrible creatures, I'm the stalker?! Well, don't get your hopes up, sweetie. I certainly wouldn't kill you, eat you, drown you and even take advantage of you. Nuh-uh, not in any of my plans. I'm too..."
"Finish that sentence and I'll rip you apart together with your ego," said a voice from behind.
"...good looking for any of those." He finished.
I turned around and saw a tall guy with messy white hair and gorgeous brown eyes. He looks so much like..."Jax?" I blurted out. They both looked at me like I've grown five heads, which I know I haven't. "Ah...I'm sorry. What I mean is, where's Jax? I know he's with me, he came here with me and," I looked at the white haired guy. "He kinda looks like you, come to think of it. Is he your brother?"
His lips were pressed in a tight line and I don't think he'll be saying anything anytime soon. It's like talking to a mime version of Professor Snape.
" I can't believe you said mime and professor Snape in one sentence. Doesn't make any sense," Mr. Auburn guy laughed. It actually do sounds wrong saying that. Still...I slapped myself for speaking my thoughts too loud.
I didn't say anything. Firstly, because it's too awkward for me to talk. Secondly, though I want to, I don't even know what to say.
I have a lot of unanswered question but I haven't any idea which one would I pick. I'm afraid that it could turn into every conversation I had before, leading to an awkward end. I'm actually afraid of scaring them away.
"Most people would freak out if they're on this situation. 'Oh help me! Where am I? Who are you? What are you gonna do to me?!" he said in a high pitched voice.
I bit back a giggle. He clearly doesn't know what he's talking about. Indeed, I am asking these questions, I'm just not voicing it out.
"Just so you know, I don't appreciate your silent treatment," Redhead said. "You could say if you aren't feeling comfortable around us. So I'll just introduce myself to you. I'm Knox, the-"
"Kidnapper of the kidnapped girl from the other kidnappers?" I finished for him, not making any clear sense.
"You don't make any sense," Knox pointed out as if I don't know it.
I gave out a loud sigh. "I've seen monsters. I think I just apparated from that place to here. How come this is happening to me? Of all people, they chose me? What kind of scripted world is this?!"
Maybe I'm a book character. The normal girl finds out she is a witch. Saffron Quinsy and Two Idiots. Or could this two be my Hagrid? Darn it! Even though I am too obsessed with these things, I never thought it will all be real. I must be going mad.
"Have you ever considered of being in a dream?" I heard Knox suggest.
"Yes!" I exclaimed in realization. "That's right, this could only be a dream!"
White hair clicked his tongue and shook his head, "Sometimes because of our complicated ways, we forget even the simplest of things." He looked at me. "That's how people are, they like torturing themselves."
For a moment there, I felt like I was staring at the little boy from the prison again. Though it doesn't remind me of Jax's whiny one, it seems awfully familiar.
"Good one, Jax!" Knox exclaimed, patting his friend's shoulder.
"What?"
Knox looked at me innocently. I opened my mouth but he didn't let me talk.
"I mean, let's concentrate on this one. You think you're dreaming and you wanted to wake yourself up, right? Well, let me help you find out if we really are in a dream!" I shot Knox a worried look and before I know it, a cold ball collided with my face.
A bus drove past us, leaving a vast amount of smoke. Silence. A guy from the other side of the street crossed, looked at us for a few seconds and then shrugged his shoulders, leaving me alone with the awkward silence. The two stared at me as I glare back at them, fury overcoming shock.
Groaning, I pulled my hair. "I must be going mad!"
