Cassidy's POV:
I took my hair down from my high-ponytail as I turned the water on. “What time are guests coming again, Lex?” Alexia looked at the time on her phone. “One hour.” I groaned and rest my head on my doorframe. “Isn’t it funny how I know what time your party is and you don’t?” I looked up and stuck my tongue out at her. “I’ve just been so fucking busy, it’s just so stressful.” I had spent the last three weeks packing so much that I had completely forgot about my going away party until Alexia came over, bag in hand, and ready to get ready. “That’s why you stay in LA for college, duuh.” She teased and I rolled my eyes before shutting my bathroom door. I looked at myself in the mirror. I had on an old tee-shirt that was extremely big and covered my knees, with boy shorts underneath. My chocolate brown hair was slightly wavy and the light blonde strands that covered my head were looking very apparent. I stripped of my clothes and stepped into the shower, having the hot water develop around my body.
There was a knock at my door as I got out of the shower. I quickly put on a towel around my hair and a robe around my body as I ran to my bathroom door to open it, revealing my bedroom. Alexia wasn’t on the bed and I figured it was her on the other side of my bedroom door. I opened it, “Lex, wheres my-” I could feel my breath getting caught in my throat. “Jake?” He stood right in front of my door, greenish-grey eyes, tan skin, light brown hair up in a quiff. He was wearing a light blue dress shirt, which made his eyes pop. “Hey, beautiful.”
“It’s gonna be different not having you following me around school every day.” I smiled at him and lightly pushed him away. “You’re going to love Oak, a lot of my friends go there.” He half-smiled at me and looked at his watch, avoiding eye contact. “You know you better get going, your mom’s probably wondering where you are." I scoffed, “She never cares where I am.” He lifted my chin up with his hand, “Hey, you know that’s true. She cares.” I shook his hand away from under my chin. “No she doesn’t. My dad had to take my baby sister with him to Thailand because she doesn’t care. If that doesn't say anything, then I don’t know what will.” He looked down, knowing that I was right. “You still need to be home soon.” I got up from my seat on the couch and started walking to the door. “Fine, bye.” I heard him get up from where he was sitting. “Cassidy, stop. I don’t want us to say goodbye like this.” I looked up at him, his eyes pleading for forgiveness. “Okay, Jake. I’m sorry. You’re right, she cares.” I said, lying. He pulled me into a hug. “I know you’re lying, but it’s nice to hear you say that I’m right for once.” I started laughing, “Oh, because you know, you’re never right?” He smirked at me, “Shut up.” I challenged, “Make me.” He lowered his eyes on me and he pushed me against his door, kissing me. I grabbed the back of his neck, pulling him closer. He released after awhile and pressed his forehead against mine. “I’m gonna miss you so much..” I looked at him, confused. “I’ll probably see you this weekend. You’re just moving thirty minutes away, it won’t be that bad.” He smiled at me and opened the door, letting the darkness in. “I love you, okay?” He whispered to me before he leaned in to kiss me. Shocked, I whispered back “I love you too” as he closed the door, leaving me to walk next door to my house.
I looked at him for a little bit more and studied his handsome features. I finally realized I was staring when he smirked at me. “I’m uh, hey. Long time no see, right?” I awkwardly stated. He smiled at me and grabbed me for a hug. I fixed my arms around him, missing how his arms wrapped around me tightly. I hadn’t seen Jake since he left, five years ago. “It’s good to see you,” he said as he walked into my room, making me back up. “Yeah, I mean, it’s only been like five years, right?” He looked down, hopefully feeling guilty. I walked back to my bathroom and took my towel off my head and ran my fingers through my damp hair. “Hey, look. You know I’m sorry about leaving you.” I looked at him in my mirror. “Sorry? Jake, you told me you were moving across town, not across the country. You told me you loved me, like what the hell is wrong with you?” He rolled his eyes at me, “We were kids back then, Cassidy. It just, ya know, slipped out.” I scoffed and lead him out of my room. “We’re still kids, Jacob. I have to get ready now,” I shut the door and went back to my bathroom. I pulled Harry’s sweater over my body, leaving it to linger a little below my waist. It still smelt fresh of a very expensive cologne and mints. As I began to put my foundation primer on my face, I heard my door open. “Jake, go away!” I said and Alexia was standing at my door. “Wait, Jake’s here?” She questioned. I sighed, “Yeah, he is. Wait, you didn’t see him?” She shook her head no and held up a Starbucks tray. “I got you what you always get, Caramel Macchiato.” I smiled as I took the drink from her. “He came over for like five minutes and then I kicked him out.” She almost choked on her coffee. “You kicked him out? He was here? After like seven years? After telling you he loved you?” She was asking a million questions per minute. “Lex, chill. I was just angry at him, so I made him leave. I don’t know, he just can’t come here unannounced after all this time.” Who even let him in? “You’ve been wearing that sweater 24/7 since you got back. Is it his?” She changed the subject. “Yeah, it is.” I smiled a little, hugging the fabric. “Has he called you?” I checked my phone, nothing again. “Nope. Not once.” She shrugged, “I bet he’s busy moving in and stuff. Don’t worry about it.” I nodded in agreement and tried to brush the thought of Harry off as I finished applying my makeup.
