Larissa stops. She becomes a freeze frame, stuck here in this one moment in two places (in the park and in Extra-Dimensional Reality) seemingly for forever... and then she goes down.
There was a heavy and wet dull thud against the back of her head. Then a terrible roar as the Creeps saw an opening in her attack and knocked her out from behind.
They began to try to drag her into their lower dimension, but Col. Baldwin acted fast. Back in his Greenhaven lair, he switched off the Mystery Frequency and yanked Larissa out of her astral form like a hand in a fire.
Of course it would fry her brain, short out the electrode implants he put there, and leave her close to a coma... But she would live (this time).
But maybe it would be better to stay frozen inside herself forever... Because everything would hurt when she woke up hours later by herself in the bushes.
They hit her. She'd never been hit before by anyone or anything (Larissa is usually the one doing the hitting).
But worst of all would be how she felt inside. A loser: defined by pain of being defeated in battle and letting Col. Baldwin down for the first time.
