Trixie's POV
I love the impression high heels give out. Especially the sound, the click clack that I hear when I walk down the impressive corridors in the headquarters. The corridor that stretched through the heart of the building had quite a few people, it made a strange noise. No one was talking but due to the amount of people a lot of noise was being made. An elderly male coughed behind me, I felt disgusted. I hate germs and people with lack of manners. I quickly stepped away from him. I paused by a mirror and quickly clipped back a fallen strand of a blonde curl. Checking my lipstick and the rest of my hair was okay I continued down. If you haven't guessed already its a very long corridor, but I'm near to my destination. A few more minutes of walking and on my way I see a sobbing man being dragged out by our officers, a few moments there’s a gun shot and then silence. I hate it when people snap out of our devices, it shows weak spots anyway I walked through a door into a meeting board. In there sat 12 other people, 4 women who shared my determination and the rest all males.
"Your late," The man at the end of the row, Richard, barked.
"Apologies, I was seeing to another disruptive being," I reply giving off my charming smile. He barely flinched.
"Another one," He thundered. I saw the others whispering to each over and felt my heart beating harder than ever.
"Yes but..."
Richard interrupted "But after how many? Thousands, millions are not responding and its your fault!'
"You're exaggerating! I'm the reason why we've got this far!" I cried out.
"No you'll find I am," Another voice spoke from behind me. I instantly turned around and bowed, the emperor was here.
He walked slowly to his chair and sat down.
"What are you fighting about?" He asked.
"The plans are failing because of her!" Richard yelled, "She's supposed to be in charge of how the people are responding and the last time I checked we had to shoot out about a few hundred thousands over the country."
"Don't raise your voice in front of me," He croaked, a guard came in and started to drag Richard out.
I flinched at another sound of a gun.
"What’s your name sweetie?" The emperor asked to me.
"Trixie sir" I bowed.
He laughed, "Don't let any of them get to you sweetie"
I placed a smile onto my face and giggled.
"Now tell me sweetie, why are people starting to stop reacting?"
I thought about it for a moment, "Its not that they've stopped responding its more like they never have, its something about them that’s not reacting, the only catch we have found so far are orphans but they've all been terminated so I'm still not sure. We're doing our best to find out."
He stopped smiling, "You're wrong."
"Wh.. what?" I stammered.
"They're not all dead, they're creating armies out of them pesky orphans! I've sent a few bombs out but that’s not enough. You should know better!"
"I'm sorry."
"So am I."
With that I screamed and ran. Not knowing where I was going. I heard the sounds of people chasing me. The longer I ran, the worst the punishment or death would be. By making one mistake I am a dead woman.
How did this happen? I thought as I ran. 20 minutes ago I was skipping up the corridor and now look!
ran until someone caught my arm and dragged me into a small room.
"I won't hurt you now shut up or they'll hear us and kill us both!"
I obediently stayed silent and still as she held onto me, I refused to breathe until I was sure the crowd had passed. I turned to look at my savior. She was barely 19, her long brown hair just clipped out of her face and a piercing on her eyebrow. She looked far too young.
“So why they trying to kill you then, huh?” She smirked.
“I didn’t they had army of orphans out apparently that’s bad enough to be punished by death” I muttered.
She looked shocked.
“How do they know about us?” She cried grabbing onto me.
“I’m not sure the emperor said…”
“The emperors here!” She asked excitedly.
“Who are you anyway?” I asked.
“Tell me! Is the emperor here!” She yelled impatiently.
I nodded
“That’s brilliant we can blow him up then all his workers go Boom and we’re free!”
“What! Tell me now, what are you?” I asked.
“Remember those orphans, yeah well nice to meet you so will you now let me tell the others to come immediately?” She told me.
“Wait, what do you mean the workers go boom, do I count?” I asked.
“Probably, did you know he chips all his workers so its easy for us, we kill him, then there’s no one to take his place.”
“But I’ll go boom!”
“Sadly yes.” She replied texting.
“Can’t you get this chip out of me?” I pleaded.
“We might be able to but by that time he’ll be gone, did you know we’ve been looking for him for 10 years.”
“But please!” I begged.
“Only if you make yourself useful, in fairness you’ve been helping them all these years and you must have made a huge impact if you’re in range with the emperor. In fact you count as a traitor and you can get killed for that. But you gave us good information, I’ll try help you, but I can’t guarantee anything”
She quickly phoned them and explained my situation, she kept arguing until she must have got an all clear for me, I mouthed thank you to her she winked.
“So what’s your name and age and whatever, tell me about yourself,” She asked.
“I’m Trixie Sweeten, I’m 27 and I worked in a huge business until the Chosen took it over and it was either work for them or be killed. You can understand why I accepted.”
“No not really but oh well. Alright so I’m Amy, I’m 19 and I was nine when the chosen took over. I lived with my foster parents until the chosen came, I was taken into a refuge and have been trained since, I act as spy from now” She smiled proudly.
“Nice to meet you!” I smiled.
A sudden crash and the door fell down, I screamed.
