Niall pushed away my hand from my mouth. I'd been biting my nails for pat half an hour. The boys still weren't back. Ellie and Beth sat with their feet in the water. The current of the lake had gotten much stronger, so they held on to a rope and a towel.
'I'm so worried.' I mumbled. Niall pushed my head on to his shoulder, nodding.
'Me too.' Just at that moment, I heard water being pushed aside. I looked up and saw Beth and Ellie struggling to pull something out the water. It was Liam. I ran up, Niall right behind me and helped. Once he Liam was out, he started breathing heavily. Zayn ran up, wrapping a towel round him just as Harry fell on to the side. He crawled to Liam.
'You okay?' He said, out of breath. Liam nodded.
We all stared at the water. It seemed like hours until Louis' head eventually came into view, with Roos close behind. Louis threw her on the side, her eyes closed.
'Louis!' Niall ran to pull him and wrapped a towel round him. Louis shrugged it off and wrapped it round Roos, just as she started coughing violently.
She sat up as Louis patted her back.
'You're okay.' He mumbled. 'You're okay..'
_
'Where were you?' I stepped up to Roos. She was sat facing the fire. It was six o clock and it was already dark.
Roos didn't reply.
'Roos?'
'Near the rocks. At the top.' She muttered without taking her eyes off the fire.
'Oh.' I bit my lip before walking off to the tent.
'Is she okay?' Niall asked me. He was lying on the sleeping bags whilst on his phone.
'Fine. Maybe a bit startled.'
'What do you mean?' Niall sat up and I slotted myself beside him.
'She seemed angry at me...almost. I haven't done anything have I?' I mumbled, looking up at him. He smiled, before shaking his head.
'No. No you haven't.'
'Good.' Suddenly Flora shoved her head through the entrance of our tent.
'Niall. Carrie. You should come..' Flora retreated. Niall and I exchanged looks before piling out. We walked outside, and saw Beth argueing with Louis.
'You put yourself in danger!' She yelled.
'To save Roos!'
'You just wanted to be a hero..' Beth hissed. I ran over.
'Woah, hold on there. Roos couldn't swim back on her own.'
'It was your fault.' she snapped. I stepped back and she turned around to face me.
'It was your fault Roos almost died.'
'What?' I gasped. I looked at Niall and he came running.
'Beth, just wait a minute.' Niall mumbled.
'My mum's coming to take me home. I can't take it here..' She walked off through the trees, pulling her already packed suitcase behind her. That was pretty much the last we saw of her.
I ran quickly into the tent, and fell into my pillow, crying. I heard footsteps and suddenly felt a hand on my back. I turned my head and Liam was there, smiling.
'It's okay, Carrie. It wasn't your fault. Could you not see? She'd been playing up all day. She used this as an excuse to finally leave..' I smiled through the tears just as Roos came to sit beside me.
'It wasn't your fault.' She smiled. I smiled back, before dropping my head into the pillow. I heard Liam and Roos leave the tent.
