5 Years Later
Sam taps his fingers rhythmically against the wood of the bar, a beer in the other hand. The hot weather leaves his skin sticky from the moister, another thing he hates about California—which is where he moved to start fresh after his brother and Castiel decided to give it another go. However, his new beginning has only turned out to be a disappointment. His boss is an asshole, the guys aren't appealing, and it seems that every friend he makes just stabs him in the back. So the bar is where he venture to dream about his life back in Kansas, what could have been.
"Sam?" An unsure voice asks, a familiar sound that he's tried to suppress. The Winchester uses just his eyes, looking at the guy standing beside him. Sam's neutral face flickers between a few different emotions before the sides of his lips tug up into a welcoming smile. "Gabe?"
"I—it's actually you. I mean..you're really here," Gabriel exclaims, throwing his arms around Sam. He chuckles in response, finally a familiar face. "God, I haven't seen you in what, six years?"
"Five, but yeah," Sam nods, "What're you doing down here anyway?" He waves down the bartender, holding up two fingers. "I moved here a couple weeks ago. I god hired at a gaming company to create new technology and whatnot. What about you, what do you do now?"
Sam quietly thanks the man for his beers and slides one over to his old friend. He takes a deep breath before beginning. "I'm still a chef. I work a Sierra Mar, it pays good but I hate it." Gabriel's eyebrows scrunch, "I thought you liked being a cook?"
"I do. I love cooking," Sam quickly reassures, "It's not my career, it's my job. My coworkers and my boss..honestly, the state too. I hate everything about this place, it's dreadful." Sam sighs, sipping his drink. "I guess you're pretty lucky that I moved down here, huh?"
"Whatever," Sam laughs quietly, "At least I have someone to talk to now."
"Hm, so this isn't just a one time thing then. Good to know," Gabe comments more to himself, he honestly thought that Sam would have gotten up and walked away when he first approached him. Sam turns to make eye contact with the blonde because maybe this is his second chance. "Gabe, before...everything was just messed up, ya know? I was with your brother and you were waiting, but I didn't expect you to be alone. So yeah, the fact that my brother was your choice of a date through me off. It hurt like hell knowing you were with someone else, let alone Dean. But I don't know what I expected, I was dating your brother. But really—"
"I didn't know," Gabe says quietly, staring at the floor bedside him. He's ashamed of what he did. Even though him and Sam weren't dating, he didn't plan on being with someone else. They were drunk and it's the biggest mistake he's ever made. "But really," Sam starts again, gently placing his hand atop the other males, "I was jealous. I wanted you to myself and knowing Dean had you too pissed me off."
They stare at each other for a moment, Gabe's whiskey eyes melting into Sam's green-blue ones. "So," Sam says softly, "What do you say we try again?"
"I think that I've been waiting five years for you to say that," Gabriel breaths. "I'm glad," Sam smiles, "Now come here." He pulls the shorter man closer to him, closing the gap in know time. So with Sam's fist bundled in Gabriel's shirt, and Gabe's hand placed on Sam chest, their lips meet to claim what should have been so long ago.
The two reluctantly break the kiss, leaving their foreheads to rest against each other before things escalate in the bar. "Come back to my place," Sam murmurs. "When have I ever said 'no' to you?"
"You haven't," Sam smirks. Gabriel pulls back with a grin, wiggling his eyebrows, "Exactly." Sam stands up, extending his hand for Gabe to grab, "Lets go then."
