Dear Phil,

We had one rule and I'm sorry I broke it. You made me promise you to never let in any strangers, even if a child was involved.

You said people were dangerous and couldn't be trusted. But Phil you have to understand my heart wouldn't be able to live with the guilt.

It happened a rainy night, all the lights were to be turned off as soon as the sun began to set. Yet I let my mind get the best of me. I blew out the candles as you made sure the boards were secure and the door was double locked. But I grabbed your collar and pulled you in for a kiss, the kitchen lights still shinning bright. As the kiss got more heated the louder the rain came, I unbuckled your jeans and we laughed as you stumbled for my shirt.

You left marks on my neck as I left them on your back. I remember how hard the rain was pounding on the roof, how loud the pounding on the door was, how I jumped and you immediately pulled up your pants and grabbed your gun. You cursed at yourself as I blew out the last candle and the screaming got louder.

I heard the little girl crying and quickly made a beeline for the door, you immediately grabbed my waist and placed a hand over my mouth.

Do you remember what happens next Phil how stupid I was. I bit your hand and rushed for the door quickly unlatching it and flinging it open. Their they stood a man with a gun pointed at me, a woman with her arm bleeding on his back passed out, and a five year old girl.

You didn't even give it a second thought as you shot the man right in the chest, the screaming became louder as his body hit the floor. The girl looked at you terrified as you pushed me behind you.

I remember you trying to help her , telling her that you wouldn't hurt her. how you extended your arm for her to grab, how she rubbed her eyes with her tiny hands and tired to grab yours. How a low growl erupted from the ladies throat as she bit the girls leg. I remember you not leaving the house for another two months.

Yours truly, Dan
