"Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, Anne Shirley and
Gilbert Blythe, Jane and Mr. Rochester, Ron Weasley and Hemione Granger,
Westley and Buttercup... As we come to the end of Romeo and Juliet, we
realize that although love is beautiful, it doesn't not always end
happily." The tenth grade Honors Literature and English teacher, Mr.
Williams stops his speech and looks down at the class. The whole class is
in awe of Shakespeare's marvelous work. Mr. Williams is pleased. He has
done his job, he has enlightened these foolish high schoolers to think of
pure literature instead of picturegram and snaptext... or whatever the
social media sights were called. The teacher sits at his desk in the front
of the room, pushing his glasses on his head. Everything is buzzing about
the play, he doesn't know which conversation to interrupt first, in order
that he give his educated opinion. His eyes fall on one group, two boys and
three girls. One boy with sandy hair and green eyes is infatuated with the

hard worker, loyal, honest, and kind. If another student was having a rough
time, she would wait outside the classroom with them and talk to them until
they felt better. No one asked her how she was, it seemed as though no one
cared... except one. Except that boy, Travis Miller. His green eyes always
looked for her in a crowd, they were inseparable. When she was reading
alone at lunch, he would sit beside her, and try to draw her attention off
the book and onto him. So now, in this classroom, while everyone around
them was talking, Travis Miller looked at Rita Thomas as though she was the
only girl in the world. Mr. Williams saw Travis laugh as the others in the
group groaned at something Rita said. He made his way over to them, and sat
in an empty chair next to one of the boys.
"What have your bright young minds been discussing about the tragedy of
Romeo and Juliet praytell?"
Rita chuckled and looked at Travis who seemed to be having trouble
containing his amusement. Looking at the teacher he said,"Rita doesn't
