Horoscopes, fortune telling, fate, destiny. Whenever I hear any of these words they all make it seem like life is predetermined. That whatever happens was meant to happen. So when this pops into my head I find that life seems boring that way. As if you shouldn't feel surprised when a tragedy happens. Sorrowful, yes, but surprised? Not really. But then I heard about some Chinese religions and beliefs like Taoism and Feng Shui. I didn't really bother to fully understand the details but watching it on National Geographic with Morgan Freeman as the narrator, you bet I'd listen. That man's voice is God feeding you milk and honey with a golden spoon. So he says this: "Birds do not fly, they ride the wind. Fish do not swim, they are carried." (Listen to him say that and tell me you didn't get goosebumps.) So what I understood from that is life will carry you to where you are supposed to go if you are willing to ride the current. But at the same time the Fate is not predestined in this religion, but mapped. The flow of energy can be directed and harness. Everything is connected and through those connections, the paths are laid out. So the way life goes is not set in stoned. Instead, it is navigated. That's why we sometimes find dead ends and that's okay. The destination never changed, but the journey is filled with experience. The one thing I often find to be contradicting with everything is when fortune tellers and horoscopes would try to tell you what to do or what not to do to either avoid misfortune or to gain fortune. I find that very silly. I mean of course you would do well to avoid anything bad, but at the same time what could they possibly know about me that I don't? In my honest opinion, I prefer being given a map and deciding my own path for the day. Who knows, maybe my fate will bring me to a happy accident. And whats best is that I don't even have to try to swim there. I can just redirect and navigate the current and wherever it chooses to bring me will always be a pleasant surprise. I sound blindly optimistic, but I truly believe that there is no such things as bad things or bad fate. Only situations that were handled poorly. Even when I know of suffering in this world. I find that people just seem to handle things in catastrophic ways with all the good intentions that come with it. So I guess my conclusion is: Fate is not set, but navigated. There is no such thing as bad fate, only mismanaged paths. And if you don't like where life is taking you, just direct the current and enjoy the ride, its your life after all.
