The Climb

Sunlight glimmers off the frozen peak
Those who look up claim it's too steep

A slip, a fall, a sentence for death
One mistake will cost your last breath

But you climb anyway for the ground was too bland
Life shouldn't be blown away like a grain of sand

The beginning was hard, next is harder
And the wind didn't help your desire to go farther

At last you gave in
Your step was a miss
But to never try is a sin
Life turned to death with a painful hiss

It's suicide they say
But the thrill seekers climb anyway
Praying to God to see the next day

The climb, however, was not in vain
There was a chance of hope hidden among the pain
The chance of completion is what keeps us sane

Some made the top, but not the way down
Few made it to the floating ground

The frozen mountain is nearly impossible to slay
But that's a price I'm willing to pay
For I wish to say
I stood on the head of Everest, and am still here today.
